Student flat - Broadband & Phone

Hi!
I'm moving into a new flat in September and I don't know who I'm going to be living with, as I won't meet them until I move in (the company I'm renting from pairs people up although due to a complicated story I do actually get to choose one person!).
Basically I need a reliable broadband provider with a wireless router, that can support three to four people online at the same time. Since I don't know what the others will be doing, I'm going to assume that some of them will want to download and play games too.
Also would like home phone free evening and weekend calls but unlimited would be great also.
The company will cover the connection fee for the home phone line which is about £120 from BT atm, but obviously line rental etc will have to be paid.
My parents are with Tiscali who are good but it seems that Tiscali is not the greatest option around these MoneySaving parts!
Anyway I have tried various sites but am finding it confusing, some of them you still pay line rental, some companies pay it for you, argh!
If someone could suggest some reliable providers (the last thing I need with the stress of living with 2 strangers is my blimmin' broadband breaking down!) and also how fast the installation will be as I'll need it kinda sharpish!
Thanks!

Like your parents i am on with Tiscali and for £19.99 a month i get FREE line rental, FREE phone calls 24/7 local and national and up to 8Mb unlimited broadband. no worries about the cost of calls!! well almost, still got to pay for mobiles
Used them for over 4 years0 -
Do you know that the peeps coming to live in the flat actually need the internet to be provided by you? they may have wireless internet already via a dongle/mobile broadband?0

We had virgin media 20mb broadband between 4 of us in a house. Worked fine.
I dont think any company will pay your BT installation fee mate.
I would wait until your at the flat, best discuss it with everyone.
Be are also good i heard, no 12 month contract.0 -
No, they will, because I checked and I've also asked existing tenants. Also there's a fair chance that a BT line won't have to be installed, because a lot of previous tenants have had broadband.
I know that one other person in the flat needs it, so that makes 2 out of 3 and all round it would be cheaper for us all to pitch in for broadband. Also, we're students, always looking for the cheaper option0 -
