  • Its great that the site "gives back" but perhaps in future the votes should be counted against registered users login id`s. This would help to prevent anybody registering tens, hundreds or even thousands of votes for there chosen charity.

Having read a great article in the Observer on Sunday about the CAB in Hull being under threat, I was pleased I had voted for them, so it's a shame they didn't make it.

I fear the CAB is going to need much more help in the future to be able to continue advising us and providing much needed rescue from our money troubles:

CAB in Hull isn't just under threat the decision been taken it's going, people need to look into this issue of CLANS/CLACS and how private companies are getting into government backed advise for profit. They way the CAB are structure also don't help them figtht this.

I agree with this, the new generic financial advice plans may change things.... I am in mixed minds over it - conceptually I like it but am very worried about how its played.

As for CAB, I very much hope individual offices will come and apply for funding for projects from the mse charity

Yes, we'd discussed that on the Voting Thread as well.
Damn this clever IT stuff ... I wish I knew how it all worked!
  • If it hadn't been for my ongoing allegiance for H4H and other forces related groups such as SAAFA etc, I would have found it very hard to choose between some of the other charities. That said I despair at times that there should be any need for charities. Not wishing to go 'political' I'm certain that many groups could be unnecessary, ie certain health related charities, as, if we all lived to be a hundred, no government could sustain the demographics financially. For example, the eradication of cancer could be closer than we know. But like the everlasting light bulb, it probably isn't getting as much 'official' support that we'd all like.

By the same token, if the world was weapon free we wouldn't need our forces. ( and I wouldn't have had some of the best years of my life in them;) )

A big thank you to MSE from me any way, :T
  • Thanks to MSE and the MSE Charity, poignant moment though whilst the poll was closing another young soldier lost his life and two more will be needing the help of H4H.

And for the political amongst us, war is stupid, horrific, and a complete break down in communications. However before you go spouting how terrible the armed forces are do something productive and try and find a way to stop politicians committing this country to war, if you can do that I'll stand by your side and beat bayonets into plough shears. Until then don't berate the guys and girls who come back with minds and bodies shredded and receive very little in the way of thanks or support from this countries elected Government.

on a final note (stepping off the soap box) I personally have found a new charity to support in shelter-box never come across them before and like what they do, so thanks again Martin.

I'm really pleased for the four chosen charities and would like to express my thanks on behalf of Different Strokes for the funding received from MoneySavingExpert.com in the last round of funding, the money really has made a difference.

    Thank you!
