I don't think you'll find much more out there, why not have a look at your outgoings to see if anything can be saved there? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Sorry when I replied I didn't realise your rent was so high, when I was above threshold my rent was only £250 per month so you may well be able to get some help there, you will of course be entitled to full housing benefit during the summer, but do get in touch with student finance as they know all about your entitlements and they may also be able to help with student access funds if you need further assistance.0

I think you also still get your child tax credits, or so i'm told

Your Fee Loan will go straight to the university to cover your tuition fees.
You'll be receiving £5524 Student Loan, a figure that's arrived at by subtracting £1260 as you'll be getting the Maintenace Grant as well. You're also going to receive Supplementary Grants totalling £6880 which will give you a total income of £12404 per annum.
I hope someone checks my figures as I'm just rushing off to cook dinner and I may have done this too quickly!
Thanks for that, i'm so dumb at times

Thing is my outgoings are tiny as it is, its the rent that will be the killer, most people at Uni will be in halls or renting a room, so very much cheaper, where I cannot do this as my kids and me need to stay in our home which is going to cost the extra £500. I dont have sky, my gas/leccy bill is very small and im on the cheapest scheme, my car insurance is cheapest, and so it my household insurance. TV licence and Water rates and that is my only outgoings. I cant cut back any more than I have since ive been on benefits.
Can I work a few hours, claim incapacity for the 6 months and study? If so I might be able to get some of the rent money saved up.:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0 -
Just googled Student and housing benfit and this is what its telling me...
'You can also claim Housing Benefit if you get Income Support or income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, you are a single parent or you are disabled, regardless of whether you are studying full-time, or what level of education you are in. You can also claim if you are a member of a couple, you are both full-time students and you have dependent children. If you are a full-time student but your partner is not, check if your partner could make the Housing Benefit claim instead of you.'
Well im a single parent Im guessing I may qualify for something then?:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0 -

You can certainly claim it but whether you'd be eligible with that amount of income, I'm not sure. Why not run all the figures past your Lone Parent Adviser. She will have all the information and be able to advise you accurately as to your entitlement.0
