wondered if anyone has any ideas for what colour to paint the walls?
doors are gloss white, worktop is black matt something effect from wickes, floor is pier oak from b + q and is a dull kind of oak compared to most (which i like)

very soft grey or very soft creammake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Why not stick with the white theme. Go for a just off white colour. You can buy specialist kitchen and bathroom paint which I easy to wipe clean. If is has to be another colour I would go a very light gray as anniehanlon said or tile

I think the white looks nice as it looks very cool and modern. plus we can't see your flooring so can't give proper advice.
My walls are red but i actually have a very traditional kitchen despite the colour choice.0 -
I'd be tempted to go with white...but then I would say that because that's what I've done! I've brought in colour with a bright pink splashback

I'd go for a shade of orange like Sunhil did in his amazing AVForum home cinema - but that is probably because I love his amazing home entertainment behemoth!!
I would go for a really bright colour to offset the clean simple kitchen. White not too practical and grey is going to make it look like a vets I think.
Love the other posters kitchen but those tiles!! Wow

The pink splashback is actually custom made from Formica, as I wanted a totally smooth finish, without grout lines. I'd actually been keen on glass but the cost was silly!
It's a bog standard ikea kitchen-had it fitted by them too. I've been totally impressed with the whole thing from start to finish!0 -
That seems like a really good idea about the formica and not having grout lines - they get filthy behind my cooker - maybe next time I will go for huge tiles.
I am a fan of Ikea too. Just done my bedroom and have worked out a cool room with their ever so simple CAD tool. Problem is all new furniture and bed and mattress is gonna cost £800 and I am in 2 minds as to whether to spend out and truly make it finished or make do with my perfectly adequate furniture and put the £800 to better use in other areas that need doing!!
Devil says go for it but sensible angel says don't when you have a horrible 70's ceiling and floor and 80's kitchen that need doing. AAARGHH
