A bit harsh giving the neg so early.

I recently had a problem that took two months to sort out and the seller sorted it in the end and I left him 5* possitive feedback.

I agree with soolin and imho I think you should have waited before leaving feedback. I had a dispute with a seller-took over 3 weeks to resolve it, I haven't left him any feedback yet. You can leave feedback up to 60 days after the auction end (I think). The dispute I had was a bit of a drawn out job-on the part of the seller, but it was sorted effectively in the end. I shall probably make a mental note to not buy from him again but I won't leave him a neg becasue he did the decent thing in the end.
As has been said earlier in the thread, the seller may not be quite so helpful now he hasn.t got the threat of a negative feedback hanging over him-I'd be very annoyed if someone who bought something from me and didn't give me a chance to sort it out and then leaving me a negative.

Of course, you should never actually threaten to leave negative feedback if the seller doesn't do X or Y. Although we're all thinking it, including the seller, so it's one of the weirder eBay rules .

its a bit of a mistake being hasty with negative feedback when you use the same account to buy and sell from. as a buyer you can not get negged but there is nothing ti stop the seller adding uyo to there favorite searches, waiting for you to list something, and getting a revenge neg in.
it is against ebay rules, but is also very difficult to prove - especially if they use an account registered at a different address to there business.

i always thought that feedback ws the end of the transcation so i dont see why this seller should now go out of there way to offer any more help besides what paypal tell them to. as above - if you had ben less hasty you could have got the missing items sent to you for free, or they may have refunded your return postage but as you have been trigger ghapppy i doubt they will do anything more in your favour.

Actually, I have another concern here as well. Seller was very new and therefore only has limited paypal protection, so refund is not guaranteed unless he happens to have funds in his account.

The neg has pushed the sellers feedback down so low that people will probably no longer buy from him and that means no new funds in paypal which might (and I only say might) mean seller just closes up the account and moves on to pastures new.

I asked for advice which has been gratefully received and with hindsight (wonderful thing isn't it!)I've acted like a bit of a (insert relevant word). I've emailed the seller asking him to request a feedback removal as I was a bit harsh. However I do think that having paid for the item on the 10th Jul, receiving it a few working days later and no response from my emails, £50 of your money in someone's pocket, wouldn't you be annoyed after nearly a fortnight?

Yes I would be clearly annoyed. Annoyed enough to contact the seller and if he didn't respond, by all means open a dispute and wait for that dispute to see if matters are resolved, as opposed to going in all guns blazing and leaving a negative, for all you know, he could have had a family emergency. Turn it on its head and you are the seller wouldn't you be annoyed (bearing in mind the seller is new to this) if someone had left you a negative so soon after opening a dispute? without giving reasonable opportunity for the seller to try and sort something out...

After how many emails does it become harassment though? lol I sent at least 5 emails to the seller, no answer, also no response via the dispute. If I am a seller I at least communicate with my buyers, I wouldn't have minded waiting for them to find the unit if they had asked me to rather than just ignoring me.

I wasn't necessarly convinced the seller is new as there is an old account in the name of the-deli which is no longer a registered user.

Anyway I've been given the advice I needed and I think that this thread will not develop to be of any further use so if a moderator would be kind enough to close it I would be greatful.

unbelieveable! the listing says 'brand new and unopened' yet item was missing, The OP has every right to be pi55ed and leave a negative. So how did the item get lost in his shop somewhere!

OP DON'T remove your feedback, it's valid.

I bought a CD walkman from Dixons 10 years ago and got an empty box, so it does happen.
