this is the one i would go for the pictures seems to be better quality (more contrast so brighter picture) plus more connections.......

and you should plug your pc into it as if you have a dvd player on your pc the picture can be alot better when watching it on TV as basically it is just a LARGE computer screen

I wouldn't get too hungup on contrast ratio as it basically bears no impact to how you'll be watching the screen in your own environment..

Here's a very well regarded tv for viewing..

I have this LG TV http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-3450.aspx and find it has great picture, sound and value for money.

thats the one i bought and love it!!! excellent for my PS3 but i only sit 3 feet away from it (yes the lovely room i'm given by the army lol)

the rule of thumb is if its over 40 inch then go for a Plasma under then go for a LCD

And the reason why i didn't go for the technika was because the guy who ran the department bit in tescos actually said under his breath he wouldn't touch one with a barge pole and has had alot returned by customers because of problems

    comared to

which would be about £470 including stand and warranty but it is poor quality pic..................

but then again if im just going to use it for Sky+ and non hd dvds.......... would i really notice???????????

    serious question

or for the extra £160 should i just get the smaller screen but better picture quality

well if you buy a DVD player with HDMI upscaler built in (dirt cheap now) then yes you would defo tell the difference)

Your brain is saving money because its CHEAP!! trust me seeing them together you will see the difference in build qaulity.....however i would go for a known well made brand that will probably last me longer and would look nicer (a few extra pounds makes sense)

you can get cheaper tv stands else where trust me or even hang it on the wall (awesome to do and very easy)

And why pay for warrenty??? surely you have contents insurance ooops it fell on the floor!!!

  • god im having enough time trying to decide technika or lg dont throw samsumg into the mix! lol

and i tried to find a samsung that was comparable to the LG but couldnt find a samsung in the same price range.
  • what do you guys make of this deal?

Currys/Comet/Tesco are all offering the same deal (£600) for the TV

which for a 42 inch Samsung plasma i thought was great

swift opinions welcome as im thinking of going to get one tonight from Comet........... if they can match Curries £80 stand.

or i could wait for Tesco who offer 5 year warranty for £130 but Comet/Currys only offer 3 years for that price.

    thoughts?

    EDIT

i see John lewis are doing the same TV with free 5 year warranty

You will not notice until your m8 buys a TV with a better quality picture. Buy the best you can afford, you will not regret it.:T
