LG Sony or Technika???

Options
i know there has been a lot of talk about TV's lately and was just wondering if people thought this was a good buy

keeping in mind thats its under the "includes stand" section

so im thinking it does in fact include the stand.

http://direct.tesco.com/product/default.aspx?R=203-5534

or LG again..... but looks better resolution (what difference does that make?)

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-2337.aspx

or this one?

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-0385.aspx

i was originally looking at.

technika 42 ich TV but have read people think its low spec and not good for DVDs.

i have Sky+ and would only be using my TV for Sky+

no HD, no bluray, no high def DVDs and no gaming systems

just your run of the mill DVD's and TV

so would the Technika TV's be ok? or if i could afford it go for this LG or has anyone got alternatives.

thanks

Kenny

If you're not using it for anything HD, then you're more than likely going to be disapointed with the picture quality compared to the CRT tv you have at the moment.

personally i wouldn't go near a technika as they are cheaply made (tesco own brand)
Sony i feel you pay for the name but they can be very good if you get the right one
LG are excellent for the price

my advice is go to the shop and see the picture quality
your looking for the best contrast ratio (ie 10000:1 is better than 8000:1)

go for nothing less than 1080p (the p bit is the important bit as its true HiDef)

personally with the 3 your looking at the LG comes up a bit better for the money!!!

also look at the connections it comes with obviously the more connections the more future proof for if you feel the need for more boxs you can plug into it (ie ps3 xbox bluray player even your stereo for better sound)

And seeing as you have SKy and your going to buy HiDef TV why not thinking about SkyHD to truely see the excellent picture quality HD brings you will be pretty impressed i'm sure

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
  • i do like the LG one.

but ill never be using it for ps3 or Xbox, im a PC man but wont even use it for that!

thanks for your opinions, any other opinions welcome.

as for looking inthe shop, i find thats uneven, the pricey ones seem to have a better feed, and the cheaper ones seem fuzzy........... a sales pitch it seems.

ps - not interested in SkyHD to be honest, dont think ill spend the money on that either!

strange about thepost for technica, I swear by them. I have 3 tecnica tv's, one with a dVd player incorportated into it. They are brilliant, i have had the bigger one for 3 years and because of the picture quality and the sund bought the other 2 x 19 inches
for conservatory and bedroom. They perform well and look good.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

this is the one i would go for the pictures seems to be better quality (more contrast so brighter picture) plus more connections.......

and you should plug your pc into it as if you have a dvd player on your pc the picture can be alot better when watching it on TV as basically it is just a LARGE computer screen

there is a 42" technika going for £400 and with stand warranty would work out cheaper, it was just the poor quality on paper that i dont like, and the one in the store wasnt that good to watch either............... but they all had a fuzzy feed.

but i will only be using it for DVD's and Sky+ literally nothing else, which is why i was asking if Technika would be ok...... problem is i cant find out what the MS refresh rate is, someone said on another forum is was 12.............
