  • I have been reading these threads with dismay and cannot bellieve how some people react when their offer of a few free quid is taken away.

I have been a customer with Letterbox for nearly 10 years now. Their products are always wonderful, excellent customer service and fast, reliable delivery. This Referral programme of theirs has been running for almost as long as I have been a customer, it's not a new concept designed to 'con' people into giving new names for prospective customers. It's a thank you, they don't have to offer anything at all. Even if they didn't, I'd still buy from them.

Maybe the offer has been removed due to people abusing their generosity? I see on this thread how people seemed 'pleased' because they've got credit here, discount there and accrued cashback from Greasypalm, Linemypocket & Quidco, etc. Nowadays, it doesn't seem to be about who offers the best toys or services, it's about how you lot can earn a few pence here and there.

Perhaps you should stop moaning about Letterbox and start moaning about the people who probably abused this system and forced them to remove this offer.

I don't think anyone "abused" the system they were just probably overwhelmed with the sudden surge in demand. What people have the problem with is not honouring the referrals made WHILST the offer was still on. Saying it took ages to change their website is an excuse as simple website updates like this do not take long at all. The cashback is an added bonus that most compnaies offer- however it isn't usually the customer thats gets this cash its usually a massive site that advertises letterbox that pockets the cash - therefore letterbox do not lose out by US getting the cashback instead.

To reinterate, the problem is with Letterbox not honouring the referrals given WHEN THE OFFER WAS STILL ON.

I agree they are a good site with quality products and I assume the point of the referral program was to increase their customer base - well they have done this - I know a lot of people who will order from them again who were previously unaware of the company.

God Chill!! I like to save money whatever the cost......

MSE is about saving money right?? i tried the friends credit offer and was rejected due to the offer being closed. It bothered me because there was so many other people got the chance of this offer and i didn't. I would use Quidco cashback too and the 10% off code.

This Company would have gained with the extra custom that it would be been getting as i intended spending far more than my £12 credit.

So please don't bad mouth people about using cashback sites and discount codes etc...

Seems that you may be a relative of the Company.....dozy mare?????

What a suspicious first post Dozy_mare.....need I say more!
  • Not a relation at all - what a daft suggestion. Letterbox is based in the South West, I'm in Hungerford. Why do people assume that when someone stands up for something, they've got an alterior motive?

Now, I do apologise for having a go at everyone for trying to save a few quid - that is what everyone's here for. It just got me mad - I can't believe some people's reactions.

People have admitted in these posts that they've given some slightly dubious addresses they're unsure of and, by the sounds of it, some posters don't even have children. You'll probably find that it was people like this that caused them to take the scheme away. Plus, it now means that I can't give any more names and addresses either, so I've lost out on my chance to earn money with them. And I've probably spent more with this company than most posters put together. So who should be more annoyed?

Well i think it's about time this post was closed as no-one wants to get into any arguement about money saving, that is not what this site is about. I think it's great if anyone gets a bargain or two even if they don't have children. Toys come in handy at Xmas time as gifts etc etc.....
But i must say that i won't be buying anything off Letterbox in the future and would not recommend them to anyone. They have been unfair to so many people...

    End of......

hmmm well if they have had the offer for ages and you have been with them 10 years - why didn't you take advantage sooner??

I don't have any kids neither do most people I sent the catalogue to - they do however - (like the majority of people) have children they buy for whether its neices and nephew, grandkids, friends kids, godchildren etc etc etc . Also the stuff I bought from the catalogue is not intended for children anyway. Just because its a kids catalogue doesn't mean you have to give the items to children.

Please ignore the people who jump down your throat because you present an alternative viewpoint - that is not what this forum is about - I am however trying to address the points you have made in your posts.
  • Thanks, Kazzea - I appreciate that.

I get everything you're saying - completely. I've had a nice G&T, calmed down and can see where everyone is coming from.

To be honest, I request catalogues for my relatives who aren't so I.T. literate and who can't make it onto a website without causing havoc. Other friends, I just give the web address to.

It's odd, because now that I realise that I can't give anymore addresses, I guess I can sympathise with everyone. So again, my apologies. I just got a bit narked.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, Good Night.
