Just an update about my order. Apparently they have to cancel the orders to apply the credit to them, so my order has been despatched as of yesterday and I should get it tomorrow!0

I guess we'll hear no more from them, then. I wonder if they've deleted the friends' details, along with the offer and the orders that people have put through?! Let's wait and see.

Can somone just explain to me how this works. I got my email saying
A credit of £22.00 has been applied to your Customer Account for the new names that have been added to our mailing list. One of the names supplied was on our mailing list already.
Your Customer Number is xxxxxxx.
If placing an order via the website, the credit will not show up, it is deducted from the order when your order is automatically processed in the Office. You just need to make a note of the credit in the comments box found at the end of the order process after you have entered your card details.
So do I place an order in the usual way and then they refund me at a later date? Slightly confused by this. Can someone enlighten me, I feeling a bit thick!!Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0 -
Hi I managed to recommend 6 friends names before they removed the offer I have just received my goods and the discount was taken off the goods.
I just placed my order in the normal way and typed in the comments bit during the checkout procedure.
I managed to save a fortune by buying some great presents from the sale section of their website. What a great site... Thank you to the person who started this thread...0 -
Thanks James - I think I know what to do now.Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0

Yes, just order whatever you want and put a note in the comment box about the credit, they must put through the card details manually later on after the discount is taken off.0

RufusA wrote:I can't understand Martin or the boards stance on this posting. Surely this is simply a pyramid referrals scheme (albeit by an established company). Maybe not as blatant or corrupt as some of the "free ipod" ones. However the friends you refer will ultimately miss out on the opportunity to make £12 credit as the pool of available people shrinks.
Not to mention the dubiousness of providing a company with names and email addresses of people who may normally have opted out of having their details on companies mailing lists.
From Martin's only rules:
"The legality of these schemes is questionable, yet the ethics isn't. These schemes fly in the face of MoneySaving and whether illegal or not I don't want them on the site. Any scheme which offers a prize/reward/cash for you queuing up and referring other people is not permitted on this site and will be deleted. Repeated posters will have their posting priviledges removed."

Noone was saying that the friends would get £12 credit etc just that they would be sent a catalogue - thats all - therefore its not a pyramid scheme at allHTH Oh and noone was asked for their friends email address either

I must admit to being very confused that anyone could think this a pyramid scheme.... you did PM me about this - so i thought it'd be useful to copy my reply
______________
A pyramid scheme involves making your friends pay you without any product and recycling the money.
This if anything is closer to a network marketing referral scheme. Yet there is a key difference here.
You do not get paid when others get a product. Simply for telling them about it. That's the big difference and why its acceptible. I also note in the link that you should ask them first. So here you get paid even if no one else gets another product.
