calm down - if you talk to them in a panic they may withdraw the flat. simply ask to speak to the manager and explain it is impossible for you and tell them a tenancy agreement can legally be signed a month ahead of time and that you are willing to send them a photocopy of your passport with your signature on it to prove your signature and suggest that you sign it and then send it back recorded delivery.0

I have clamed down now, I didn't call them I shall wait till I am home this afternoon that way I can talk to them without getting upset or angry.
I have decided never to move again, it was all soo easy when we decided to move but the whole mechanism of getting stuff sorted and organised within such a short space of time is mind boggling:eek:0 -

There is no legal requirement for the signatures to a tenancy agreement for a term of less than 3 years to be witnessed. They are simply covering their backs to prevent the possibility of you saying in the event of some dispute that the signature was not yours and that you hadn't had sight of the contract.
Sign the agreement and get your bank or your local solicitor/employer/doctor or someone of similar professional standing to confirm in a separate letter that the signature is your own.
Remember that LA's don't have to have any training or qualifications before setting up in business - some of them seem to make their rules up as they go along.
I wouldn't necessarily assume that this all means you'll have a difficult relationship with the LA for the duration of your tenancy but agree with Joe that you need to keep your own paperwork in order just in case. Good luck with the actual move0
