Carphone warehouse cashback cheque- out of date what do I do

I was rummaging around following a major clearup and I found a couple of cheques from CPW re a cashabck claim. The cheques were dated 30/04/2004 (I know that it is over 4 years ago!).
anyway is there anything I can do- I tried calling CPW who told me that cheques are only valid for 60 days (even though the cheque has no time limit on them) and they will not reissue them so tough!
Can anyone offer any advice (I would appreciate not being slated as I know it is a stupid thing to do).
Many thanks

Just bank it - It will more than likely clear.0

Cheques which are more than 6 months past the date on them can be declined by the bank without warning! If you bank it and it gets rejected I don't know if you would get charged for it?Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0

I thought that as well in terms of any charges- but I read somewhere that cheques are valid for a period of 6 years.
As such given their is no limit on the cheque in terms of a date can CPW argue that the cheque should not be cashable?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
They could stop the cheques if you give them the details. Otherwise the bank its drawn on decides. Usually banks say a cheque must be less than 6 months old - but there is nothing really to stop them accepting it. With my bank I am told that bounced cheques don't incur a fee - so I'd keep quiet, pay them in and argue afterwards if needbe. The bank may not actually accept them over the counter - but either way you won't know until you try. I'd copy them first.0

I remember I put in a cheque in HSBC and they sent the cheque back to me telling me they have declined it.
Didn't get charged though.0 -
its six months for a cheque
6 years is statute of limitation in making a claim against someone0 -
Probably sensible to offer Cpw £5/£10 to re issue chqs to cover extra expenses in the event of bouncing. That would be fair. Not sure if their terms and conditions stipulate a chq must be paid in within a certain time period though. Judging by some of the difficilties people are having with cash/back at CPW at the moment if you want your money you will probably have to take them to court!! They can't deny the cash back was due if they have issued the chqs!!0
