Using a mobile on holiday in Norway.

:j Has anyone got any experience of/suggestions on how to save money when using a mobile phone to phone the UK from Norway?
Am going on a cruise to Norway with my two teenage son's (minus girlfriends!) and am anxious to avoid massive mobile phone bills from Vodafone and Virgin media!:j
Any hints, tips would be gratefully accepted!

With Vodafone's free Passport add-on, you pay 75p connection per call, then your normal price, so no further charge for incoming, and your inclusive contract minutes or payg charges

But local SIMs could work out cheaper, in unlocked phones. http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/norway.html has details of networks and tariffs. Lebara specialises in cheap int'l calls, 0.89 kr/min, and if you want to have a phone each if you'll be apart some of the time, the calls to other Lebara mobiles are just a connection fee then 0 per minute

:T thank you that certainly sounds worth investigating especially the local sim. Its such a minefield out there I didn't know where to start. It would probably be easier if I could get them to leave the phones at home but I don't think its going to happen!:D
