Tesco Broadband merging charges?

Hi
I have had a letter and an email today from Tesco Internet (my current Broadband provider and Telephone plus landline provider)
It reads:
"Dear Mrs E
CHANGES TO PAYMENT SYSTEM
We are writing to let you know about some changes to the Direct Debit that you use to pay for your services.
We are migrating all of our customer accounts to one single billing system and as a result your Direct Debit reference number will change.
Your new Direct Debit reference will be XXXXXXXXXXXXX
There is no need for you to complete a new Direct Debit Instruction, as details of the change will have already been supplied to your Bank or Building Society, who may notify you independently.
You may also see a comment on your Bank or Building Society statement telling you about the last payment under the old reference and the first payment under the new reference. These changes will take place from 30th July.
Please note that there might be a slight change to the date that your Direct Debit is collected. Your future Direct Debit will be debited from your account on or soon after 19th of the month. This change will be effective for any payments claimed from 6th August onwards.
We have enclosed a copy of the Direct Debit Guarantee for your reference.
If you have any questions with regards to these changes, please contact Customer Care
Tesco internet access team
The Direct Debit Guarantee
This Guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.
. If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, Virgin Media Ltd re Tesco will notify you 5 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.
. If an error is made by Virgin Media Ltd re Tesco or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank of Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to us."
I don't understand what they are trying to tell me? Are they saying they are combining my Internet & Broadband into 1 package and taking 1 single payment rather than 2 or what???
Is this a good way round current contract tie in to 'get out early' (re DD guarantee) if I wanted to switch to Sky for phone, net & digital tv?
And why the mention of Virgin Media? We dont have access to Cable where we live!? If we did I would have ditched and switched long ago.
Hope someone can help as I am baffled (doesnt take much though :rotfl: ).
Many thanks

Tesco's broadband was originally provided by NTL which was swallowed up by Virgin.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

They are telling you that there is a change of date and account number for your DD as they are legally obliged to do, your internet and your broadband is one and the same thing so there is no change to your contract with them As deklan says NTL/Virgin Media supply Tesco broadband.0
