Not being billed for NTL 1mb Broadband.

I am looking for some advice really!!

I used to have phone and internet access with NTL - I cut off the phone about 2 months ago as I changed to a contract mobile which was 500 free x-network minutes and 100 text a month for £5.99 (will tell you about this again!!) so was only being billed by NTL for my internet, £17.99 per month.

However, upon checking my last two statements from NTL, it tells me my Current Charges Total £0.00 and My Account Balance in £19.94CR with No Payment Due. I don't even have a page which tells me what services I am being offered for receiving this bill.

I am due another bill in a week - so if this is also £0.00 should I tell NTL?

If I don't and they then find out I have had free internet will I have to pay back this money or is it their problem?????

I have scoured the Customer Service Agreement and there are no particular references - but then again something small might be in there!!

Anyone have any suggestions?

  • well last oct i switched to talktalk and cancelled my telephone and internet access with them .well some 10 months later i recieved a bill for services which i have recieved from NTL for £149 they say it was never cancelled and i say it was although the terms and conditions state that any acounts which are not accessed for a continous period of 6 months or more are automatically cancelled when i posed this question to them they said that is only if the account has never been active !!!!!!!!!!! what a pile of crap i said it doesnt say that in your terms and conditions

    ntl Dial up Internet
ntl services available only in ntl cabled streets and subject to availability and network capacity. Speed of internet connection assumes components working at optimum speed and capacity. Internet packages can only be changed once a month. Any credit not used as a result of changing from the Unlimited service cannot be refunded. Technical support calls charged at 50 pence per minute. Accounts will be terminated automatically if not accessed through the designated dialup number for a continuous period of 6 months. We reserve the right to review cut-off features. All brand names and trade marks are the property of their respective owners. There are numerous other questions i asked but as of yet they have failed to answer so i wenrt to CAB and have made some progress but they are a bunch of chancers sending somebody a bill 10 months later
jesus if someone owed me money i would be asking a lot sooner then 10 months !!!!!!!!!!!
SO BEWARE WHEN YOU DONT GET A BILL FROM NTL

    PS sorry about the punctuation
  • As it is a service you are using you will be liable to pay the Internet bit. From reading various forums and websites it seems it is not uncommon for NTL to have billing issues, so if it was me I would contact them and get it sorted rather than face a big bill in a few month's time.

I had a problem after cancelling their dialup/free calls package. They said that I had used the free calls service a few days after the cancellation date and as such I was due to pay the monthly fee of £15. Although it was possible someone had used the service accidentally (prefix number for phone calls) I argued that the service should have been switched off on my line from the cancellation date. Credit where credit's due they accepted that and I received a letter saying my account was clear.
  • It says that you have credit in your account, have you reffered any1 or have you paid them extra, they are taking the money about of the credit currently.

think i done quite well out of them, back in the dial up days :-) i got 2 years worth of dial up for free they had meant to charge me £5 a month but didnt. it was only after i stopped using the service because i went on holiday for 4 weeks, i came home and found they had disconnected me so i phoned them and was told that i owed them £120 however if i took out broadband they would waive the debt.
