Hi,
There are probably millions of threads based on things to do with the little'es... but the words i'm searching keep bringing up irrelevant threads:rolleyes: !
So to the question... what do you do in the hols?
I have a 3 year old little one who usually goes to preschool during term time so i'm looking to carry on some activities that she would normally do. I'm thinking crafty things so i need to buy some art materials and think of some interesting things to do. What should I buy??? And what can i do?? I'm thinking collecting leaves in the woods, decorating shoe boxes, but any other ideas?:j
I'm also after days out too...
Parks
Zoo's (kellogs two for ones)
Wacky Warehouse
Swimming
parks
strawberry picking
Cinema Orange wednesdays
.....What else do you do?
I really don't want to end up doing housework all the time and watching the tv so really need to broaden my horizons and make the most of the 6 weeks!
Looking forward to hearing your ideas:T

I'm in the same boat with my near 3YO.
I have sort of roughly planned something for each morning, that way if somethign else comes up great but if not we are not left twiddling our thumbs :
Mon : Craft
Tues : Cooking
Weds : Outing with mother & toddler group
Thurs : Swimming
Fri : Library
Sat : Can't remember! (sorry, I am at work)
Sun : Church/sunday school
I will just keep this pattern on repeat through out the summer hols. We do have one week of him booked in a local Spanish club for the mornings & one week of swimming lessons too. We will go for picnics/tea out at the local park/playground, feed ducks, visit pet shops (free zoos when you're only 3;) ), have friends round to play/go to friends, put the bubble machine/sprinkler on in the garden in the warm weather. We will also rent a different kids DVD from the library each week, as well as borrow a couple of books. For cooking activites it will be simple things like chocolate crispie cakes, cutting out biscuits etc. For craft we will paint photo frames made out of cardboard boxes, make "snakes" from stuffed tights with glued on eyes & tounge, paint plaster of paris moulded alphabet letters (Wilkos £2.99), cut out shapes & glue onto folded paper as Xmas cards, make cotton wool ball sheep etc.
Oh, and this week we're potty training as well_pale_
HTH;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Our local borders does activities in the holidays. Also we go swimming, go to the park, arts & crafts - I am lucky to work at the HO of a large retailer & I pick loads of stuff up for a few pennies, she does ballet on a Sat & will often "practice" during the week, we do baking, playing in the garden (we have swing, slide, sandpit, playhouse, bike, ball pool...), cleaning the rabbits, we will build a den in the house, reading, workbooks, go on naturehunts.
Also she likes boxed games now, although a lot have to be done when my youngest (16 months) is snoozing as she likes to join in everything & games tend to go everywhere.
I hope this has given you a few idea's.

we have a local donkey sanctuary which is free to go to, maybe you have something like this around?
As for craft activities, use every day items, my 3 year old loves gluing bits of paper to a box to make whatever her imagination leads to that day. I keep thinks like magazine cut outs, milk bottle tops, sweet wrappers etcDebt free wannabe
Littlewoods - £214.82 (DD set up so 0%)
Very - £100 (0% on BNPL - 1/4/13)
CC - £2600/£3533.53 (0% until 1/6/14)0 -
Im loving the snake idea!
Can I add pasta pictures/collages as a suggestion for craft activity, havent done this in years!0 -
Pasta necklaces - thread onto string them pain/glue&glitter them.
Junk modelling - keep all your cardboard and small plastic items and make robots/buildings etc with them.
Salt dough items.
Kids like making pizza, so they can say they have cooked the tea..."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
At the minute dd is happily glueing & sticking & cutting out all my old catalogues, christmas, birthday & anniversary cards! She loves doing things like that- as well as helping me do my housework! Yesterday we went to the park- which happened to be out of action due to being re-painted so we went to our allotment & dug tatties for our tea, then went home & got her roller skates & went out again! All the grand cost of nothing! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0

I haven't had a chance to read the replies, but my recommendations are as follows:
My son from the age of 3 always loved Mr Maker and we would watch it on Cbeebies and then go off and get the craft stuff to make it. I have copied the link in above in case you haven't seen it. I think from memory they do a written version on what to make as well as the video clip so you know what to buy.
Reading so many books, doing Cbeebies on the computer is always a treat. Setting up a teddy bears picnic buy having it for real at lunch time in the garden.
Garden Centres often have fish which are great to pop in and visit.
The best thing to do to fill the hours is to link up with some of the mums at preschool and go to the park. They love meeting up with one another and go mad at the park while you get a chance to chat for a break.0
