Customer side leak

in Water bills
Following Thames Water renewing the mains in my street last year, I recently got a letter from them advising I had a customer side leak. I could arrange a repair myself or have them investigate and fix the first leak they found for free, thereafter there would be a charge, all I had to do was sign a form giving them permission to dig up the garden, but within 14 days, or they would use statutory powers to enter the property and charge me.
News to me, I could see no evidence of a leak, but after calling them and being assured there was nothing to worry about, I signed the form and sent it back.
They eventually came while I was at work, dug up the front garden and from what I could see, put another meter box in the middle of it, and left a big puddle in the garden which didn't subside, so in the process they must have damaged the pipe because now there is defiantly a leak!
I called them and told them tthey'd caused a leak, so they came back and they said they'd fixed it , but the puddle just got smaller and remains. It wont go. Luckily, I had taken a photo of the garden before they came the first time in case they damaged anything - dry as a desert.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
