  • No.

    That's a tax rebate (Self-Assessment).

    You mean it's ours  :o ;D 8) :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. Are you sure? We filled in a form a while ago and thought we may be due a bit of a rebate ... but nothing like that amount. I can't stop ;D ;D ;D

You have completed a tax return recently, Smartsaver...??

Not a bad rebate all the same. Even with business mileage and pension rebates, mine doesn't normally get into 4 digits so that's pretty good.

Are you or your spouse self-employed by any chance?
    Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
    Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
    Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
    ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)

No but Mr Smartsaver was made redundant and was out of work for a bit this time last year, also he paid emergency tax in a job last year ... Maybe it's from then.
  • Smartsaver

If you want you can download the 003/04 tax return as an excel spreadsheet here. Just enter the figures from your tax return and it will do the calculations for you. The spreadsheet is free, it only costs money if you want to file on-line which of course you don't. Would be interesting to see if it agrees with the revenue figures! ;)
  • Thanks Unbelievable.. I don't have excel at home so will forward it to work.. although not sure I want to know if it agrees... ::)
  • You don't have to tell anyone if it doesn't ::)
  • To follow on from the orignial topic... Have sorted the mortgage as LloydsTSB eventually wrote a letter taking responsibilty for the error. They now have allowed another unauthorised transaction of £5916.62 to go through and have charged us £81.26 interest.  ???

They have agreed the transaction is again their mistake but have said our card is not 0% interest - hence the £81.26. They have offered us 0% for a year as a 'good will' gesture... There's no goodwill because this is what we had in the first place...  >:(

They must be in a hell of a mess..I find it hard to believe such a big company can make such a mistake twice on the same account.   :o I intend to complain ..  when I get the time ....
  • My cousin used to work at Lloyds but said that she'd never bank with them as she saw first hand how many mistakes they made
