LloydsTSB disaster!

in Credit cards
Just back from stoozing hols in Antigua. On 1 Nov I paid off Mr Smartsaver's LloydsTSB Platinum card £8815.00 as 0% deal ran out 12 Nov. ;)
We returned to a letter from Lloyds advising 'Your account is seriously over your credit limit by £8715.00'. This was on his Advance card. Ughhh !! :o
I thought I have got it wrong - lost the plot..
Checked all accounts and could find no error. Transpires Lloyds got it wrong.. Instead off paying of the Platinum card Llloyds debited the Advance card with the same amount causing us the huge debit of £23715.00. We had a £15000 limit on this and BT £14900 to EGG..
The call centre, which we think is in India, is sorting it out. They can see what has happened but could not put right on Saturday and it was too early today at 1.00pm >:( Suppose it might be in Dehli
And so we wait. How can a company like Lloyds allow someone to go £8715.00 over there limit without any authoriziation or checking validity ??? ??? It would cause most people to freak out... Surely they they should have checked with us before debiting such a large sum :-/ :-/ Any thoughts??

Nice credit limits. ;)
I agree 8) BUT ::)0 -
Hi smartsaver - hope you enjoyed your hols 8)
I agree - it's totally unacceptable that they should have allowed the transaction through. I have been with Lloyds for ages and have had few problems but when they do throw a wobbly it's usually a big one! They once issued a cheque book on my husband's account to someone else with the same name (and it was back in the day when everyone used cheques!).
Having said that, more recently my husband had his debit card stolen without realising (they lifted his wallet, took just two cards out and replaced his wallet). It wasn't until Lloyds called to say there were some strange transactions going through our account that he even knew it was gone. We were most grateful in a spooky, 'Big Brother' kind of way! :-/0 -
I would kick up a fuss and you may get a further 0% period out of them. A similar thing happened to me with MBNA and I got them to give me another 9 months at 0% with no fee.0

Nice one Booogle - will give that a go0

LloydsTSB have not called as promised. Mr Smartsaver away on business so nothing I can do but sit here bite my nails
and hope all is being resolved and equally as worrying that our credit rating stays in tact

Does anyone know how I get a months free experIan? Following on from from my 'LloydsTSB disaster' thread where they made a huge mistake when I paid off a credit card, we now have a 'black mark' on our experian file and have been refused an offset mortgage..0

Mind you today Lloyds paid a credit of £1797.00 into our account from 'SA'. We've no idea where it has come from and neither has the bank.. Could it be compensation?? :P0 -
