Late holiday to the sun needed... Next Week !!

Hi All

Ok - very late I know, but thinking about a holiday for next week ( wc 26/7/08 ) for 7 nights. I've actually got 2wks annual leave booked, so flexible regarding the dates.

First time abroad with the kids - so a bit overloaded with information

Looking for somewhere warm and kid friendly ( i.e. no lager louts or late night partying - lol )

2 x Adults, 1 x 10yo girl and 1 x 6yo girl.

Have been looking at Menorca and in the region of £450pp ( flexible within reason - both price and location )

Don't mind self catering and but ideally needs to be close to beach. Kids clubs would be a bonus. Looking around, it appears that accommodation is usually 1 x bedroom and a sofa bed?

Fly anywhere North East, North West and Midlands ( Stanstead & Luton at a push ). Prefer morning flights to arrive at a reasonable hour.

Is this too late to even try and find somewhere ??

:T

lol - nothing like a bit of community spirit ( and this is NOTHING like it )

Have phoned a few agents over the last few days - but was after a bit of 'real' feedback. Travel agents are ok - but, at the end of the day, they are sales people and will flog a dead duck if they can.... ( One even tried to convince me that my girls would love a bit of 'nightlife' !! )

I'll keep looking, but if anyone helpful wants to chip in, then please do so :T

Take a look at www.travelrepublic.co.uk and they have a new holiday deal finder on their website.

Also try https://www.icelolly.com - they have been advertising heavily as a last minute portal.

Not sure if anyone has any real experience with them but I thought they had some good cheap content on there for you to look at.

You have chosen the busiest week of the year to go on holiday and to be honest, with the lack of holidays left for next week, this is really one time when a good travel agent will help.Availability is disappearing by the minute and websites are not always the best when demand is exceeding supply. Make sure you know what you are buying, do you want a package holiday when everything is put together for you, including transfers and a Rep. to offer advice, if so then be very careful with websites who actually simply buy a flight from one supplier and accommodation from another and leave you to do the rest.

Good luck, it may not be easy for next week at all.

the times people come on here though wanting everyone else to do their work for them. your post is the third most popular after $250 petrol cards (only 8 left) and "I cancelled my holiday because I couldnt go, but my tickets have now arrived and miraculously because they are free I can go".

    Agreed!!

I have been here for quite a while and it amazes me the amount of unhelpful posts that are now put on these boards.

Thank you to all those who have provided the constructive feedback and the web links - still ploughing through loads of sites. :T

Just for the record - I am actively looking - just thought a few more eyes / ideas wouldn't go amiss - So it's not as if I want everyone else to do my work for me

  • Hi! Can you go on the 25th? That might be a little cheaper, even if you find an evening flight option. I think for the price you want to pay you are unlikely to get multiple bedrooms.
For a holiday sales market overview, try a comparison site like travel.co.uk - there you can choose multiple departure points and the flexible date option to display different prices on different dates.
    Hope that helps constructively!
