A piggybank is always a good one - start moneysaving early!!0

also, some little toiletries or something for the mum. she's done all the hard work and will appreciate it far more than the baby does. when i had mine my mil bought me a little something for me, and it was so so nice.0

Try to avoid clothes and soft toys, I was inundated with both. A nice photoframe or a keepsake box would be nice. I know that's would I would have liked for them.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030

What a bumbo (squishy sort of seat that helps baby to sit up ) it can be used from 4 months and has a novelty value, yet is incredibly useful. It costs about £30.000

I agree with the above post - threat the Mum as well as the baby ! When my first son was born, a friend gave a few outfits in different ages - 0-3m, 3-6m, etc. I appreciated that, as I didn't have all newborn stuff. I don't know what you buget is, but why don't you pay for nice studio photgraph. Or for a cheaper option, our local Boots has a 'professional' photographer every few months.0

don't know your budget, but there are some cute things here:

premium bonds, ious for babysitting, home cooked food or some kind of really simple baby record calendar for the sleep deprived parents, like the plot-a-tot.
failing that, clothes from 6 months plus - and remember what the season will be then. far too many people give cute newborn clothes, and you get so many there isn't time to wear them before they grow.0 -
Hi muir_steve,
I hope you don't mind but I am going to move your thread over to the families board, where hopefully you will get more replies.
