I think it's important to get advertising that suits your business
If I was handed an a5 full colour glossy flyer and plastic business card by a local chimney sweep/car mechanic etc I'd be rather worried about what they charge.
On the other hand if a graphic designer gave me really cheapy business card it wouldn't fill me with optimism
There is a local company in the same industry as me (customer not competitor) and they refuse to take out anything more than a small ad in the yellow pages as it would give the wrong impression0 -
Vistaprint are quite good, free you only pay postageBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0

Hi!
You may find them a little dear when the offers aren't on, but Goodprint have some good offers on and the cards we've had have been great.
We were on a tight budget too but went for these and were chuffed with the quality and how easy it was to sort the design out.
Check out this thread on UK Business Forums! Just had a quick look, I knew I;d seen an offer somewhere!
Hope this helps, best of luck with your new business!

I'm not sure why you won't try VistPrint, but I would highly recommend them. Once you have signed up to them you get emails, and can get anything you want for the price of the postage only. Which is usually only a couple of quid.
The quailty and finish is really good. I am self employed and I would never go elsewhere not just because the price is so good, but because the quality is high too. I don't think you would get 250 full colour business cards, or 50 full colour glossy postcards printed both sides for £3 anywhere else!MFW - £59,536 outstanding 31 December 2007
Current balance £56,835.74
1st OP 28 July 08 - 7 OPs so far - Total OPs £1,460

The thing with VistaPrint is that their offers only count if you use their artwork and templates. If you have your own artwork, you are looking at paying £40 plus.0

i'd go for vistaprint but not the free ones - they have 'this was free from vistaprint' written on the back of them, or something to that effect. There are eough templates that you should be able to find something that works for you, and you can upload your own logo. They are a slightly odd size, and won't fit into a business card wallet, but as a first go they will more than do the job. Just don't sign up for anything else!0

I set up my business card with VP a while ago now but I simply deleted the 'this was free from vistaprint' bit when I did the back side of the card. Unless you cannot now do that, but it's worth trying.0

Vista Print has been fine for me - obviously you just have to keep your wits about you and not sign up for any extras they e-mail you.
But you say you have your own "art work" - I dont think you will get free cards with your art work. You tend to get whatever they offer you0 -
It would seem that many people, including myself, have unwittingly been enrolled in a discount club called VPrewards and costing £9.95 per month.
What appears to be happening is that when you order business cards or the like on Vistaprint.co.uk you are then charged £9.95 in subsequent months for a rewards scheme (discounts with name brands) that they say you opted into.
This occurs after your initial order has been paid in full and you only notice it if you look closely at your subsequent credit card bill.
