Thousands of pounds worth of grants go unclaimed each year and they're available for all sorts of wierd and wonderful projects - from energy savings to studying. I'd like to tap MoneySavers' collective knowledge to find the best ones.

What else can you find a grant for and what's the best way to get it?

I haven't used any of these yet, but there are a large number listed in the Business Link Grants and Support Directory. You can search the directory by location for grants applicable to your area.

Just been on direct.gov.uk and typed in grants and it threw up a whole host of grants available. Just about to apply for warmfront grant myself as rules have changed since i last looked at it. Thanks MSE.

I am a teacher and would love to make the children/school more environmentally friendly but it is really expensive. Are there any grants available to put in hand dryers, solar panels etc

Came across this link that offers grants up to £500 but for households for solar panels etc. You could contact them and see if they may be able to help you.

There is this one too, for Scotland, and it looks like schools/universities etc are eligible.

There is this link to The Guardian too which I've just come across which mentions Scotland, England and Wales, and funding for Green Energy for schools.

£100 grant for computer training

Every adult in Scotland, regardless of income, can now apply for a grant of £100 for basic computer training.

The new grant is an extension of the Scottish Executive’s Individual Learning Account (ILA) scheme, which helps people on low incomes to learn new skills.

dont know if its been posted here yet, but you can get a grant to convert your car to l.p.g (liquid petroleum gas). the government will pay up to a whopping 75% of the cost as they are keen to encourage alternative fuel usage. as for the pros and cons of converting to lpg, heres some faq's on the topic:

Our local council (Bristol) has offered environmental awards to voluntary groups, so it might be worth contacting them and/or the local education authority for advice. Also if there's a 'green' advice service for the council - might come under refuse services, because recycling's so important there. I don't know if the kind of project you're describing would be covered by the awards I've seen, but I'm sure the council would have to approve anything like this done at school anyway, wouldn't it?

Can you redo your link (to "internet fraud centre"?!). I did a search for grants re lpg but couldn't find any current grants, there were some that finished in August. Have you got any more info?
