I'm not sure what you mean by 'children in need'. Do you mean children from low income families or children with disabilities?
The Family Fund is available for disabled children and does provide clothing as well as many other things. I'll give you more info if that is what you mean.
The only other thing I can think of is clothing grants for school uniforms which you are eligible for if you get free school meals. These amounts are usually £30 - £50 per year.
If neither of these are what you mean could you give some more information such as where did you hear about it?I'm a little angelBUT A WHOLE LOTTA DEVIL

Hi, I think this is the familyfund as i saw the link after i posted this thread but wasnt 100% sure. The only problem is that my child has no disabilitie but we are on a very low income, i am trying to find charities that can help with nursery fees or just general fianancial help.
I would be grateful if you know of any charities that can help familys on a low income, and provide any info as i cant seem to find any other than lone parent charities.
Thanks*Wanna Make Loads Of Money*

I wouldn't class having a child with no disabilities a problem :-/ (I'm sure you didn't quite mean that
)
Try THIS site. It has info on community care grants, budgeting loans, crisis loans, tax credits etc. The page link I have given is for parents on a low income but there is loads of other sections.
Have you got a Sure Start (info HERE) nursery near you? They have free nursery places or your local schools should.
Really don't know of any other help from Government or charities. Best I can do I'm afraid - hope it helpsI'm a little angelBUT A WHOLE LOTTA DEVIL

[flash=200,200][/flash]There is also grants/loans(loans you pay back after
about 6months, they take about 5.00 a week off your benefit.)you can get from the "social Fund" its for stuff like clothes, shoes and im sure there is a section for stuff like washing machines, carpets and firdges tec, i dunno, i just tick all the boxes and hope for the best! what i do know is that you ask for a form for a loan or grant from the social fund.[flash=200,200][/flash]
I also know there IS a grant that you dont pay back, but i would be lying if i said for sure what it was called.
Hope it helpsSnootchie Bootchies!0 -
I try to find grants for people within my work but its only for people who have disabilities or long term illness. However, Citizens Advice Bureaux can provide this service for anyone who needs help. They may have access to the same kind of publications I use, i.e. A Guide to Grants for Individuals in Need which is an expensive book produced by the Directory for Social Change, and the Funderfinder programme which is a handy piece of software.
There are many trusts who will provide either one-off grants or annual allowances for people who have fallen on hard times. The trust may have a special interest in applicants from certain areas of the country or who previously worked or have parents who worked in certain occupations. There are also trusts who offer grants to people whose parents fought in certain wars or any of the armed forces. If your parents were refugees from another country there may be a trust set up to help them in this country. There may be a trust fund out there thats just waiting to hear from you. Unfortunately, its difficult for individuals to access this information as most trusts prefer an agency or organisation to vouch for the applicant. This is why CAB's are in a position to help, as most trusts will accept an application from a CAB Advisor. :T
Of course, this all depends on how busy and well-funded your local CAB is.
Otherwise, I would try your local Children's Services and ask for their help in accessing this information. I checked the info available on the web and the Directory of Social Change charge over £200 for subscription to access their guide online.

can anyone tell me are there any grants for people on incapacity benifit highest rate , no other income at all.
thank you0 -
if you're on Incapacity benefit, you're not entitled to any grant from the job centre. I know this as i'm on it myself, i tried applying for a Community Care grant, and i was refused it as it's only for people on Income Support and a few other benefits. Also applied for a Budgeting loan, but was refused that for the same reason.
I had to apply for a Crisis loan instead, as it was for furniture.
I applied for approx £500, and i got £230. They take £5 a week off me for this, and will continue to until it's paid off.
Unless there are any charities to help people on incapaciy benefit, i think we're stuck with having to take out loans!0
