Hi, can anyone tell me if you are eligible for a community care grant or social fund loan if you get child tax credit and working tax credit. I do not get any other benefits.

    Thanks

    Hi

You may be able to get a Community Care Grant if you are getting:
    • Income Support
    • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Pension Credit
    • payment on account of one of these benefits, or
    • if you are due to leave care within the next 6 weeks and are likely to get one of these benefits when you leave
You will not be eligible for a Social Fund loan either as you have to be in receipt of one of the following benefits:

    Income Support
    Income-based JSA
    Income-related ESA
    Pension Credit

Hi, I think this is the familyfund as i saw the link after i posted this thread but wasnt 100% sure. The only problem is that my child has no disabilitie but we are on a very low income, i am trying to find charities that can help with nursery fees or just general fianancial help.
I would be grateful if you know of any charities that can help familys on a low income, and provide any info as i cant seem to find any other than lone parent charities.
    Thanks

    Do you have a partner?

If so, and both of you work 16 hours or over, you can get the biggest percentage of your childcare fees paid through tax credits.

If you are a lone parent, then you need to be working 16 hours or more to receive the help.

If you are not working, then I'm not sure why you need nursery fees paid?

Are you receiving all the help available to you?

I'm thinking HB, CTB, IS, Tax Credits...

    Thanks, no I hadn't noticed.

Guess she has it sorted now then? :rotfl:

In that case tiggsy, you will get more responses if you start your own thread. :)

This is incorrect, Social Fund administers two types of loans, the above information is true of Budgeting Loans (in fact you have to have been in receipt of one of the benefits you mention for 26 weeks.)

However there are no qualifying benefit restrictions for Crisis Loans, anyone can apply for a Crisis Loan regardless of whether they are claiming benefits or not.
