...all that "heightened" security of no more than 100ml of liquid on board.
Do you know how much damaged a damage you could do with a chemical bomb of less than 100ml!
and they bother about tweezers!
The suspects involved in that specific plot are currently standing trail.
And as for tweezers...nobody thought box cutters could be construed as a threat either.
Sometimes, just sometimes... you have to just trust that the inconvenience is for a very good reason.0 -
Why do people have to nit pick. I can give you the full ins and outs but it will bore you silly.
Airport/airline security is still a complete waste of time.

the whole point of the crackdown on liquids was to stop people going through security with anything including 2 litre bottles of liquid. my understanding was that the bottles would be mixed in someones premises and then combined with another bottles contents to set up the 'bomb'.
it was never just a case of going into the airside Boots and getting some hair dye and mixing it with some lucozade etc
the liquids restrictions to the best of my knowledge stops the terrorists from constructing anything liquid wise that could bring a plane down.
now if it's the choice of buying small liquid bottles of toiletries or putting them in hold luggage or risking a plane being downed ...i know what we should be doing0 -
Thanks all. Son is on the plane now and his darts are in his hold luggage with no issues.
(I have no idea why he feels the need to take them on holiday with him mind you, but that's a discussion for another day.)"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Lol I was wondering this last night. I will have to take with me a rather gruesome looking set of long nose pliers..... Im planning on taking DD swimming with dolphins and the rule is no jewellery. I wear whats known as a closed capture lipring, which basically requires pliers to get in and out.
I just had visions of trying to explain why I needed the pliers and them not believing me0 -
As others have said, it is all a farce, you can buy a glass bottle of spirits airside, imagine the damage you could cause with that broken, but of course it adds to the profits, so that's OK.. :rolleyes:0

Some years ago I was flying from Edinburgh to Heathrow with a colleague, a Naval Officer. He was attending a Naval wedding that weekend, in uniform. He actually got as far as the aircraft door before some one said "you can't bring that sword on here". They had even put it through the X-ray machine previously - presumably looking for hidden nail clippers !
The cabin crew did show some common sense and put it in their coat locker.0 -

How specific do you need a threat to be?This week, UK plot terror trial jurors were shown a video of the liquid explosive the suspected terrorists allegedly planned to use on airplanes headed for the United States and Canada. The liquid explosive mix was created in a government laboratory and placed in an Oasis soft drink bottle, just as the terrorists planned to do.
That is exactly why passengers with babies were being asked to drink part of the ready mixed baby formula before it was allowed through. You don't enforce safe guards like that for the fun of it because it creates an atmosphere of fear and huge logistical problems.0 -

umm... why not swap it for a labret stud, or a circular barbell (like a ring, but with 2 balls on the end, so you just unscrew one!) before you go on holiday? or, if you gently stretch the ring, very gently, you'll find that the ball will click in and out easily..
