Can you take darts on a plane?

In hold luggage, not hand. Holiday booked through Thomas Cook and website just says no sharps in hand luggage.

If in the hold that's fine, but always check with the carrier first if your unsure about anything.

It's not down to the carrier, it's down to whether you'd be able to get them through security. Given that you can't take stuff like scissors, nail clippers, etc I'd imagine you can't take darts, but that's not 100% certain.

No problems at all in your HOLD luggage, it's actually surprising what you can take.

"Sharp items such as scissors, knives of any description, tools and sharp accessories including screwdrivers, imitation toy guns, hypodermic needles, sporting equipment or any item which may be considered to be a safety risk to the passengers or crew, are prohibited from the aircraft cabin and must be packed in Hold Baggage"

Yeah, them all important security people looking after us.

They remove your nail-clippers then you go through to the departure lounge and tuck into a hearty breakfast completed with steel knives and forks...

It's all a show to make it look secure and to make passengers feel safer. They are really looking at the people and their body language as soon as you walk into when you board the plane, not just the security check points, this is where they pick up the dodgy folk not when you get stopped for carrying nail clippers!

and it is the carrier who dictates to the security teams on the ground what they will or will not allowed on board.

    but anyway...!

    No, it's not.

It is a combination of the requirements of the governments of the country you are leaving and the one you are travelling to.

Thanks all. Son is on the plane now and his darts are in his hold luggage with no issues.

(I have no idea why he feels the need to take them on holiday with him mind you, but that's a discussion for another day.)

Why do people have to nit pick. I can give you the full ins and outs but it will bore you silly.
Airport/airline security is still a complete waste of time.
all that "heightened" security of no more than 100ml of liquid on board.

Do you know how much damaged a damage you could do with a chemical bomb of less than 100ml!
    and they bother about tweezers!

yes viper7 i agree airport security is all about show and the bomb making equipment and weapons are freely available after securtiy , as nothing will get in the way of profit, but its nothing to do with the carriers.

if you have a story which proves the carriers dictate what security teams allow onboard then im sure it will not boring, not for me and many others on the forum
