I read reviews and use a bit of common sense to decide if I believe them or not.

For example, I read a review where a man slagged off the breakfasts of the hotel we went to in Turkey because they didn't serve bacon and sausages at breakfast. However Turkey is a muslim country and they don't eat meat from pigs, so why would you expect to get bacon and sausages?

As it happens, there was a spicy beef sausage for breakfast which was very nice. I think it was called sujuk and it was a bit like chorizo.
Here I go again on my own....

I find that people only generally write reviews if they've had a really bad or really fantastic experience, and people seem much more likely to complain about an experience than to praise - I always bear this in mind when reading reviews. If I go on holiday and the hotel is good then I'm much less likely to write a review than if it was terrible - there's not so much to get off my chest!

I must say I take most reviews with a pinch of salt - I agree with what has been said about Trip Advisor that perfectly good hotels seem to get a slating. But having said that, there has been the odd occasion where bad reviews have been well justified!
