Constipation Remedies!

Hi there,

I like many people in the UK suffer from constipation. I eat a high fibre diet which includes a lot of vegetables and fruit and I also drink a lot of water. I often suffer from constipation and was wondering if anyone could suggest any remedies which work for them.

I have tried some of the medicines such as Fubogel, Lactulose, and other remedies, and these only have a limited effect.

If anyone can suggest any remedies which actually work than I would be grateful.

  • Try cutting out dairy produce it may be your body finds it difficult to digest. I changed from dairy to soya. Soya milk, soya yoghurts, goats cheese, and its worked for me. I used to get really bloated. I still eat eggs occasionally but only organic.
The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten
  • Have you tried eating a lot of dried fruit as part of your everyday diet? For example prunes, dates, apricots. You can also get prune juice from a lot of the supermarkets as well as health shops. This did the trick for me after birth of 1st child bunged everything up!

If you can't stand eating dried fruit on its own then you can chop it up and add it to museli for breakfast.

My nan used to swear by a couple of glasses of hot water with a slice of lemon in every day.

A cup of strong coffee in the morning did the trick for me when I was pregnant ::)
Just run, run and keep on running!

A side effect of too much vitamin C is mild diarrhoea, so plenty of vitamin C rich fruits will help to avoid constipation. Kiwi fruit is good - start with 2-3 a day & see what effect they have on you.

  • Hi,
My partner suffered from the same problem for a long time until a friend of his recommended a product which was truly fantastic. It is called Fibrewise and really does work.It is made with twice the fibre than brands like fybogel. It is orange flavoured and is easy to drink. It also consists of other digestive-healthy ingredients including antioxidants, vitamins, aloe vera, liquorice root and ginger. What's even better is that you get a full 60 day money back if you're not happy with the product. (which we have done with one or two of their other products). It is a little pricey at £12.99. After trying so much other stuff and spent loads, we think it is well worth it. This can be ordered directly by calling a freephone number 0800 032 0562. If you like, email me directly on r.khanum@ntlworld.com for more info. Hope this helps. Cheers
