Trying to transfer to 2G iPhone

Hi All,

I recently upgraded to a 3G iPhone and read that I could pass on my 2G iPhone to someone on an O2 contract. My girlfriend has been interested in one for ages so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. We filled in the online iPhone tariff transfer form and got a response today saying that because she is on a 12 month contract we won't be able to transfer until the 11th month of that contract (Dec).

She is currently paying £19 a month for 50 AnyTime Minutes and 500 Texts which turns into over £30 a month when she makes any kind of phone calls on it (I don't understand O2's definition of AnyTime)

It feels like O2 are cutting their nose of to spite their face here. We are looking to sign up with them for a longer period of time and pay double per month (based on contract cost) there is no way they could loose. However having spoken to them on the phone we are getting a real "computer says no" attitude which I hate.

Can anyone suggest a way in which we can get this turned around because up until now we have been more than satisfied with O2's service and are looking at having an unusable iPhone for 6 months.

Well from what they (o2) have told my bf who has the original iphone, when you take out the new contract on the 3g they cancel the old one for the 1st gen, so If i were you i'd cancel the original contract, unlock your iphone using ziphone (free and easy) and then your gf can just put her sim in it, whether contract or payg.
Unless I'm reading it wrong the contract your gf has got sounds atrocious as well!!
Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

If she is already with O2 as you say she can just put in the sim and all will work fine

obviously she must be making more than 50 minutes of calls a month.

The only thing she must be careful with is the data use as this can turn out to be expensive.

what i suggest is you would then add a Data bolt on
