There's lots of discussion on how to reduce existing mobile contact costs. However, my daughter is currently running up huge PAYG bills at college and wants to change to a contact to save money.
Any recommendations on the best current deals please?
Thanks.

without details of her requirements for minutes/texts it's impossible to say, the cheapest monthly line rental could be even more expensive than PAYG if non of the calls made fit in with the inclusive minutes etc.0

Just be carefull, a friend was on payg and swopped to contract as she was putting in £40-50 on payg but when she was on contract she ran up bills of £75-£120
and her mother wasnt too pleased.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
The approximate requirements are 250 minutes and 150 texts per month. Any suggestions?
I thought there were so many 'good deals' around. Is this not actually the case?0 -
I'm looking for a new contract as well as one-tel have finally driven me up the wall once too often.
However, I am looking to keep my phone (which is unlocked) and take up a cheap contract with free phone, putting the contract sim into my old phone and selling the new phone. I'm ploughing through all the sites at the moment trying to work out which is the best contract with the most saleable phone. Contract wise the phone is barely used, a few phone calls and a few texts each month, my current bill is about £5 a month but I thought if I had a deal with free texts or something I might use it more.
The BT 150 contract would be ideal but unfortunately there is already a mobile registered to this address and I have enough trouble with their customer services to try and get a second contract in a second (legitimate) name.
At the moment i am looking at the e2save website, they have a Nokia 7600 on a 3 contract, but I understand that their customer service is also poor so I might give that a miss. They also have a Samsung E800 with 6 months half price line rental on orange which might be suitable.
I agree with some of the other posts on here about phones, you need a spread sheet at least to work out the best deal on the best network..especially if like me, I don't actually want a new phone.

It is the case yes, it's just one persons good deal is another persons bad deal hence the request for your requirements, to get the best advice it's easier when you're armed with the requirements!
In theory if cost is the only factor the £4.99/£6.99 deals from CPW and E2Save for 3's 500 mins and 100 texts would work out cheapest, but the phones are not always everyones cup of tea0 -
Soolin - would have thought your best bet is
https://www.forwardcellular.com - get a Nokia 3100 with 100 mins (35.99) or 200 mins (£60) and sell the phone for £40-50. So the cost is either favourable or miniscule for the year. As ever FC are excellent on cashback and you'll get it within 2 months of the start of the contract. Just be aware that these prices end today (17/11).
For the 250 mins and 100 texts - have a look at this deal https://www.chatterbox.com/OfferDetails.aspx - its a split 50/50 for peak and off peak mins. But be aware off peak is 8pm till midnight. If your daughter is happy with her present phone - I would be tempted to get a contract and sell the phone on and use the SIM - this is assuming the phones unlocked or easily unlocked.
If the use is mostly off peak (hope she's attending classes) why not go for the 500 off peak deal at ForwardCellular for £60 for the year. Then it just £6 for the texts after month 3.
