Network/tariff advice please - anything but O2!!!!
After just having to raise my 3rd complaint with O2 in less than a year, I have decided I am not going to bother wasting any more time with them and will cancel my contract.
Latest issue connects to complaint number 2, a month ago. Following complaint number 1 last year, I had a discount of £5 per month applied until the end of my contract. The contract ended in May. In June, not only did they remove the £5 discount, but they also applied an additional charge of £5. I called to query this and got through to an incredibly rude young lady who basically shouted down the phone that that was how it worked and I'd have to accept it. Naturally, I spoke to her manager, who realised that it was indeed incorrect and refunded £10. I then asked to change the tariff to a "simplicity" rolling tariff (so I wouldn't be stuck with them for 12 months if they f***ed up again. I was put through to someone who assured me he had changed it all over and I was on the Simplicity £15 per month tariff with immediate effect. Just checked my latest bill, and I am still on the old tariff. O2 say they have no record of me changing my tariff and if I want to do this I need to call them! Basically, they are saying I am lying
So anyway, having submitted complaint number 3, I have decided to cancel the contract and change networks. I am not tied to any particular network as I bought my phone sim-free. It is also only 6 months old, so I am not particularly interested in getting a new phone.
Who are a good network to be with?
I use around 60 minutes and 300 texts a month - is it worth going to PAYG for this usage?
p.s. sorry for venting, but I am incredibly p***ed off with O2 right now!

Anyone?
Would you recommend the network you are with now? Or are they all as bad as each other when it comes to customer service? You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
I am currently with o2 , stayed with them on another 12months from end of june purely to get the n95 8gig (which I am not using still GRRRR).
In answer to your question, I would go with 3, their customer service is far better - I have had 3 contracts with in the past and wish I could get a deal with them but they only seem to want to 18 month deals. They have 15 a month mix and match price plan.
But if you want something cheaper, I would suggest Vodafone, there are lots of deals with lots of free minutes and texts via dialaphone or phones4u (same lot) which offer deals ranging from £5 a month upwards.0 -
I am with O2 and have done similar things to you (had the £5 discount for 12 months, moved to simplicity) and I have to say I have not had any of the issues you describe (moving to simplicity was done in under 24 hours after I rang on a Saturday). The only problem I have is that their terms for the unlimited web bolt on (ie the existence of the 200Mb limit) is really unclear and almost impossible to get information about.
Despite this, I would still say that O2 have good customer services. I might not give it 10/10, but I'd give it at least 8.
The other company I have been with was Orange and they were very good. The only problem is that getting service in one of their shops is actually difficult unless you are particularly pushy (or maybe that's a statement about the customers in the shops I tried).
I did try and get a contract with T-Mobile, but they ended up giving me the run-around with regards to phones, deliveries and the like, which is when I went to O2. The people in their shops always seem quite friendly and eager to help.
I was also tempted to go with 3 as they do seem quite cheap, but I keep hearing bad things about their customer service. If you look on dooyoo.co.uk (it's a site that has reviews of most things), Three is the only one to have a rating of 2/5 with the rest getting more (although T-Mobile does get 5/5, it has only had three or four reviews).*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps.
