I don't beleive there will be any noticeaable benefit from either filling half a tank or from filling a full tank and avoiding evaporation (which is also going to be minimal).
The best savings will come from driving style and marginal savings from correct pressures (unless you have 4 flat tyres). Not to mention of course a Band 'A' car.

As far as i am aware and i dont mean to be rude but carrying a child under 2 on a bike is unsafe and stupid and completly impossible when there is more than 1 of them.
Trailers are hardly escape proof by any means and a baby carrier on the back leave the kid wide open to neck injuries if involved in an accident
Someone else taking their 2 children to the same nursery does it with a bike and trailer, but both his children are at least 2, he is able to use pathways on route to the nursery and it's a less than 2 mile trip for him.0
