Ryanair - do not know what to do

Hi all,
I hate when things are unfair. I bought a fly ticket with ryanair in march for me and my son, when I bought the ticket my son was only 1 so I paid for him as an infant but we are flying next week and he is now 2 years old which means i need to buy a child ticket for him. Because i already paid for an infant ticket I think it is fair to pay the outstanding balance for a child ticket but they are asking me to pay for a full ticket, so that means that they are stealing from me 30 pounds. also i have been ringing Ryanair for two weeks and paying for phonecalls, but noone answers the phone or the put it down when you tell them something that they do not want to hear.
At the moment i do not know what to do, what will you do in my situation????
Thank you

Have you spent more than £30 on phone calls yet?
Did you actually miss the point that when your kid was due to travel he would be 2 (thus needs his own seat)?
Is £30 what the new ticket costs?
If all of your answers are YES I would just give up.0 -
Disgraceful!
I think you should tell the Queen, and ask her to put a stop to this malarkey.0 -

Yes I believe so

On the website does not say anything about the child's age when travelling there are other websites that they do specify the age when travelling but not in ryanair. Also when I put the date of birth they must know that the my son will be 2
Is £30 what the new ticket costs?
No, the new ticket will cost me 331.14 pounds
If all of your answers are YES I would just give up.
My worry is if they don't let me fly on saturday because my son has not got a child ticket
Thank you0 -
So you need to pay £331.14 or travel without your son.0

I do feel sorry for you, but surely you realised at the time of booking that your son would be 2 when you flew?C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0

It is more than likely that your offspring will not be allowed to fly on an infant ticket as a child ticket is required. Ryanair must have have changed their web-page as it is now quite clear that a child ticket is required for over 2s.
Sorry I think that you are going to have to pay - use the web if you still can't get through by phone.

I don't understand why you bought the incorrect ticket in the first place? Presumably you knew how old he would be on the date of travel?
I think using words like steal are wrong as they are doing no such thing, you should have bought the correct ticket type in the first place!nothing to see here, move along...0 -
ryanair are not being unfair. you have purchased a ticket incorrectly so if you need to travel i think you'll find that you will have to pay.
CAa (civil aviation authority) rules state that a 2 year old child must have their own seat on a flight for safety reasons..'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
You have said:
'On the website does not say anything about the child's age when travelling there are other websites that they do specify the age when travelling but not in ryanair. Also when I put the date of birth they must know that the my son will be 2'
so you can't even claim ignorance can you? If you knew that other websites ask for the age when travelling why did you not clarify this with Ryanair before you booked if you were at all unsure?0 -

No, they won't let you fly, as an infant does not have a seat, but a child does. You quite simply HAVE to buy a child ticket or he will not fly. The fact the ticket is costing £330 is down to the fact there is probably only one or two seats left.
You have to buy him that ticket, or not fly.
The immediate thing I would do is actually state your requirements, (dates destinations etc) and see if someone can find something cheaper, maybe on another airline for all of you.
Your existing infant ticket is worthless.0
