Mobile broadband - no contract?

I have a Vodafone PCMCIA 3G data card which I got with my laptop a couple of years ago. I pay £2 per MB on this. I see that Vodafone do 3GB for £15 per month (see here). I am disappointed to learn that to get this one has to sign up for a 12 month contract.
I also have an Orange mobile where I pay £4 per month for 4MBs and £1 thereafter for additional megabytes. I am on pay monthly (OVP Virgin tariff). I intend to purchase a 3G mobile for use with this SIM card and hope that I can have 3G activated on my account.
I have ADSL broadband at home and use the Orange and Vodafone services from my laptop when out and about.
The amount I pay is therefore extortionate by today's standards. What options do I have as I do not wish to commit to any contract as this is in addition to access at home and therefore may change in the future?

Hi Dave,
You have 2 options that I can see:
1. 3 mobile broadband, £49.99 for a modem + sim, then top up £10 for 1gb, £15 for 3gb or £25 for 7gb. All lasting 30 days max.
2. o2 MBB, £20 a month for 3gb, rolling 30 day contract.
T mobile does a daily mobile broadband but I think it costs about £4 a day, altho they only charge this if you use the service. So if you use it on odd days you might be ok.
Hope that helps. I've been using Mobile broadband in my home to save bothering with a landline, but due to poor signal and low download limits I'll probably go back to an ADSL service soon.0 -
£39.99 from Play.com for the 3 mobile

why don't you just buy a 3 prepay sim and add the broadband bundle? Most corner shops seem to sell them for a a few pounds, or you can get it from their website for £10 with £10 credit (plus quidco)
The only thing to note is that they seem to remove Orange roaming, so you can only use it on 3s 3G network. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
