Anyone live on a busy road?

Hi all,

As my title says im just wondering what people thought of living on their busy roads.

I ask because i have found a lovely house that i realy like but it is on a main road that (during the viewing) was quite noisy. This was at 5:10 pm though so i understand it would be quite busy.

I Used to live on a no- through road with fields behind so have no real idea of how much the noise would affect me. Any view or experiences would be great.

Thanks

We used to live on the A52 into Nottingham. It was fine as we had double glazing.

There was a bus lane so we could reverse into that to get out of the drive.

Apart from that, you tune out any other noise after a while and don't even notice it.

Great house. Living next to a busy road is do-able.

I moved from a quiet end of terrace in a cul de sac to my current house in Jan 04

    It's great

The kids love it - there's always someone/something to watch

Not many pedestrians but lots of vehicle activity - blue lights, big trucks, unusual vehicles and also activity at odd hours - Highways Agency changing streetlights at 02.00, County Council refurbishing bus shelter at 04.00

We have double glazing BTW so noise doesn't bother us but when you can't sleep it's great to see other life going on outside

I would really recommend living on a busy road as long as you are a bit set back (our front door is 20 feet from the pavement) and have a baby gate near the front door so youngsters can't get out

It's not just the noise it's the film of black car exhaust crud that collects on the windows and seeps through somehow, flat cats?

Yes, and I can't wait to move out. Lived 2 years next to a railway station and you get used to the noise of the trains and they don't run very late at night.

This road gets lots of traffic and lots of young boy racers who think nothing of playing their car stereos louder than I ever have my normal one at, all hours of the night. It's muffled when the double glazed windows are shut.

Jealous - Not really sweetie - I've squealed along with the best of them - but I squealed with folks (boys and gals btw) who actually did the deed rather than just fantasised about it on the net :D:D

Why is it everyone else's cat gets flattened except mine?

I only moved here to get Eartha Kitt flattened and thus reduce the vet bills to zero and yet 4 years later she's still here

We're due at the vets on Saturday for annual vaccinations - no doubt there will be a vitamin jab and a supply of worm tablets that we don't stand a (cat in hells) chance of getting down her throat.

We'll leave the vets £120 lighter and all just so we can get her a place in a cattery later in the year when we go on hols

    Any suggestions:confused::confused:
