So you need a new 'last employer'
Go and volunteer for a few hours a week at a charity shop. After a few weeks, voila - your most recent employer is the charity shop
And you've got some voluntary work on your CV. You need never rely on your library boss for a reference again.

Be very annoyed that one person can take away what you worked so hard to get for some silly game.:beer:0 -
Will that help you get a new job?
Will it make you feel better?
Why not turn your anger into something more positive?
Go and get a voluntary job and do your flipping ECDL and you'll feel much better and be able to get an even better job.0 -

It won't help and in the longer term won't make me feel any better.:beer:0 -
So why CHOOSE to do it then?
Because you are CHOOSING to do that, Phil.
Do you know exactly what the reference said?0 -

Because I have been very hurt by losing my dream job.
I haven't see it but I have been given the summery.:beer:0 -
Just a suggestion, do you know any one else at the same company who would be prepared to give a reference instead of your boss?0

Phil/whoever
I am sure that on this thread, the other thread and all the other threads that you will no doubtedly post; there will be many many solutions that you will ignore. Tinkerbell has already suggested two very good solutions that are available to you for very little capital expenditure on your part and in a fortnight you could be applying for different jobs, with a smaller amount of customer service and a different skill set.
I however feel that when I return from my holiday that the discussion will not have moved on one iota.
You've got 12 days to prove me wrong.
Do your ECDL and get some temp work for a charity sorted out; make the calls to arrange this tomorrow.
Its all your choice/s and only you can make the changes necessary to turn your life around.
Much the same as all of us actually...you're only human after all. We all have to put effort in to get reward out; and we all have to start somewhere.0
