unlock Sony Ericsson K500i

Can someone help me to unlock Sony Ericsson K500i which is on Orange network expires contract soon. Thanks.

    i think you need a special cable and software to unlock it. If you visit independent mobile shop they should do it for a charge or ring orange and they might provide a code to unlock the phone.

    i also have a k500i whose contract is due to end in 3 months so i will be intrested what you find.
    Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

    As wazza said, you need a cable and software to unlock a Sony Ericsson K500i. If, like happyhunter, you can get it unlocked for £5 at a local mobile shop (or car boot) then I'd go for that, although I find that most places seem to charge around £10 in these parts.
    If you're a bit more into it, you could get hold of a cable and (using your PC online as a server) the software from these people:

    This has the advantage of unlocking and debranding your phone at the same time, but will cost you more and is more technically involved!

    as dbore suggested the cost of buying the cable etc may be high but if you have friends/family with SE phones they can contribute towards the outlay when they want their mobiles unlocked
