Hi there, I work in a hotel in Chester so have good knowledge.

In general I wouldnt go for Hoole Hall, The Mollington Banastre or The Queen if its a REALLY special occasion.

Grosvenor is a safe bet, but as said before you will pay for it.

A good suggestion was made before about the blossoms, which is now owned by the Macdonald group hotels and has just had a £3m makeover literally weeks ago. Brilliant location slap bang in the centre of town.

Alternatively on the Hoole Rd (A56) the green bough hotel is a small luxury hotel 15 mins walk from town centre and has won stacks of awards!! just google it.

Hope you have a great time wherever you end up. If you need any specific advice let me know as I'm born and bread Chester!!

PS I'm sure some people have had some lovely experiences of the hotels I didnt recommend and hope I havent offended anyone,,,,,,,, its just a personal opinion.

    Jordan.

    Grosvenor.
The blossoms has reviews now for being a bit of street noise-but its just not in the same league.
Rossett hall is very nice, and technically in wales, but is minutes from the city.

Rosset Hall is a good call, make sure you get a room in the new part of the hotel!

The Green Bough looks really nice - am seriously considering that one !

It's my 40th and our 10 year wedding anniversary next year, my parents married in Chester and I'd love to go there. I've got to get a trip to Chester Zoo in but would love information on other things to do.

Some hotels do a package with a free ticket to chester zoo,Rossett Hall does at times.
