Hi
I'm planning a trip to Chester (next Summer) it's going to be a special occasion and have got time to save up for something extravagant.
Can anyone recommend a decent hotel to stay in - I've looked online already and all the 'luxury' hotels look fab but just wanted other people's opinions on places they have stayed at and what experiences (positive or negative) they had.

No knowledge of the area or its hotels myself but have you tried tripadvisor?.....0

It has to be the Grosvenor or the Blossoms both in the city centre.0

Tripadvisor would help and then quidco and last minute or hotelpronto or similar.
We stopped in Chester early June at the Queen Hotel. Nice interiors but a 10 minute walk into town - probably alot cheaper than the Grosvenor (which is a nice hotel). The upgraded rooms were nice at The Queens tho'0 -
We stayed at the Rowton Hall Country House Hotel and Spa last year for a couple of days. It is just outside the town centre but only takes a few minutes by car or there is a park and ride a few yards from the hotel which saves you having to park in town. We couldn't fault the hotel at all, the grounds are lovely as is the pool and spa.0

Friends stayed in the De Vere at Carden Park which is a short drive from Chester. They loved the hotel and grounds. Grosvenor is very overpriced but would definitely suggest looking on Trip Advisor.0

Stayed at Carden Park. Plus - room was in a block in the grounds and it was huge. Minus - Main restaurant is massive, food wasn't too good and service was patchy.0

We stayed at the Queen hotel too, nice hotel, good brekkie but evening meal horrible, go to the excellent chinese just up the road.:staradmin0

If its a special occasion and price is less important than quality i would go for Hoole Hall close to town and a beautiful setting or Crabwall Manor on the other side of town another great building where you are pampered non stop. There is another large hotel in Mollington too cannot think atm:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Mollington Banastre
But for 5* luxury it has to be the Grovesnor. Right in the middle of town, snooty top hatted doormen, etc, etc.
Carden Park is fine if you intend spending the weekend in the spa or on the golf course. 10 miles out of town so not really a 'Chester' hotel.Ethical moneysaver0 -
