His name does tend to crop up on threads shortly after I've posted then he has the temerity to call me a troll.
And what does my being on here for 3 weeks have to do with anything? Some would make the point you have a very low post count since you registered 19 months ago so shouldn't really be giving advice but, of course, I wouldn't be one of those people, lol.
PS It was £35, not £50. And if you think it's a waste of money, fine. For some people I'm sure it will be.
All I was reflecting was it's not demonstrating good form by anyone's standards having an ignore set up against someone after just 3 weeks. There was no reason to bring this up on your post and I think for someone to be the bigger person you should have let them get on with it instead of making unnecessary comments about publicly declaring who you have set to ignore.
But back on topic, yes I do think £35 is a waste of money for something that tells me how much an appliance costs to run - you can usually calculate this figure yourself or get average running costs from the manufacturer. It's all about money saving here!0 -

Wood burning stove or do you have rights for cutting peats for winter fuel?0 -
I am having a massive overhaul of my home energy efficiency. For instance, my hot water system (gas) is so designed that each time we use it we leave six litres of piping hot water lying in the pipe between the tank and the kitchen sink. This is usually wasted as by the time we need more water it has gone cold. I calculate that we waste a minimum of 10,000 litres of hot water a year in this manner. A lot of gas. I have now purchased a 7 kilowatt 'over-sink' instant electric water heater (£39) which should, hopefully, reduce this waste. I have also lined the airing cupboard, which houses the tank, with reflective board and wrapped an additional layer of the same material round the tank itself. This has certainly reduced the frequency with which the boiler switches on and off. I am now in the process of improving the loft space.
I am also implementing LED lighting where suitable.
By the way, can anyone tell me how much it costs to heat 10,000 litres of water?0 -

Unfortunately not. Our next door neighbour is considering getting his whole heating & hot water system changed over to a wood furnace, as there's a guy locally who'll deliver an arctic-full of tree trunks for £400. Discussing it with OH last night, I think we'll have the bedroom heater as it is now and use the night storage heaters in the hall and sitting room, supplemented by the fire in the sitting room. And then start saving up for a ground source heat pump! We're planning to be here for the next 60 years or so, so there's ample time for it to pay for itself.

There is a way, which does not use any electricity/gas plus keeps you fit and you can both enjoy together (but unfortunately can't be measured with an 'owl') !!0 -
