wow! thats a great extra!!!
got to confess not done much today.... done the washing up, and put a load of laundry on.
Got to print out some photos to take into our letting agent as the damp and mould in our new build flat (?!!!) is getting to a ridiculous stage. I've just had to throw out 10 pairs of shoes, boots and flipflops because they are covered in green furry mould from being in our inbuilt wardrobe, in a box and it made me feel sick.... now ive got even less to show for my debt!
Im not sure i can get any money back from anyone for this, we dont have contents insurance, and i doubt the letting agent/landlord are going to hold their hands up and pay out for it.... would be nice though....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Got a dilemma.....and dont know what to do?
Its probably not a dilemma and loads of people will tell me what I know is the sensible answer, which I like to neglect to remind myself of....
There's a dog available to us, exactly what we want, but will mean paying out quite a large amount of money initially, and then on-going cost of having an animal. with our current debt repayments, we have about £300 a month spare, inc a standard overpayment to our debts, and our regular living costs.
So with that yes we could afford a pet, Im working part time at the moment, DH is working full time, but we both work within a 10 minute walk from home, so we can come back on lunches to let the dog out, and let him stretch his legs.
Will mean asking landlord and agent to allow us as small dog, the dog is house trained and local for us to go and collect.
I know part of me just really wants a dog because of losing the baby, like ive got all this maternal love and nowhere for it to go, so its just bottled up inside me....
Now realistically we're in a one bed flat with access to an outside space, and Im not sure if its a pipe dream and a strong desire of mine and I should just accept that having a dog cant fit into our circumstance or what.....
See now Ive written it all out, i know its not even a dilemma..... im just driving myself insane being sat here, dh out for the day, with nowt to do....
Its days like this that I think im not coping as well as i want to be....
b*gger xx

Im here hunny- come chat to me:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Hey CAFCGIrl,
Why not write down a lost of pros and cons with your OH about the dog. If the pros win then I would say go for it. The only thing I would say is: is the outdoor space for your flat only or for a lot flats. Is it easy to access? That would be the main barrier I would say but then you have a lot of love to give the dog as well.
Maybe doing the list would be best. Hope your okay.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks all
I think its a lot to do with the breed of dog we're after doesnt usually come up anywhere near us, so it just seemed to drop from the sky!
The outdoor space is like a large green (like village green) which is for all the flats (not just a little garden). Easy to access as we just open the fresh doors we've got, and its there (joy of being ground floor flat)....
I know the cons would win....in numbers LOL but then that never makes you stop wanting something does it....
Just have to accept my lot in life for the time being i think...Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Yeah..... as much as i would love a dog, it would be very hard work at the moment with everything else.... just would've filled a hole you know?.....
Anyway have paid a total of 78.93 off my credit card debt today, so thats something.
Also decided we definitely wont be buying xmas presents for anyone this year, we cant afford it and noone in our family really needs/has asked for anything and we wont be seeing them and im hoping given everything, that they will understand....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Having recently purchased a puppy its hard for me to answer this objectively.
Our puppy has completed our family but she was hard work and still is and in the first few weeks we wondered if we had made the right decision with us having our little 3 year old girl too.
I think a big consideration is whether you are intending to try for a baby really, I know things are still very recent regarding your miscarriage so this may be a decision not currently made but my thinking is if you are and you fall pregnant a young dog and a newborn will be very hard work.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

I know what you mean cafc, my dog was just a puppy when i had my miscarriage and he did help me through it, but based on personal experience i would wait until you are debt free that way you can be sure if any unexpected costs come up with the dog you will be comfortable to afford them hope that makes sense***** on the road to debt freedom *****
