urgh just wrote a long post back and its now vanished! dont you hat eit when that happens! oh well. was usual rubbish anyway!
Was just saying listen to your gut instinct on if you like the people as well as theres nothing worse than being in a job you hate.
Just had an odd fight with a friend, i never argue with, about debt. grr! got me really annoyed!0 -
oh no hun, what happened?
Dont talk about it if you dont want to but sometimes it helps to vent...
hence my other thread on the forums LOL which i have now reached my conclusion about, and feel a bit better!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
i dunno it was weird. she was just saying people shouldnt spend what they don't have to which i said well if that was the case no-one would be in debt. and she started going on about how she would hate to not have money to spend each month and to not be able to go away when and if she wants blah blah blah, she just made me feel like an idiot for being in debt!0

oh hun, she probably didnt realise how what she was saying would come across to other people....
Sometimes people without experience of a situation can be very...... insensitive and misunderstanding about the situation....and often evangelical about their own lives, thinking it should be their way or the high way!
For example when DH and I had miscarriage.... a family member on his side remarked "oh well..... you can always try again and see if the next one is healthy"
Not exactly helpful and stung like a slap across the face but I just put it down to them having no understanding, and little compassion for others....
Not the same situation I know.... but the basics of it are the same.....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
People can be really insensitive and its best to try not to let it get to you (or alternatively punch them but little confrontational)
One think I don't like about MSE is that on some of the other boards is that people critise the people on DFW. Everyone is on here because they got in debt and are trying to manage that - I feel that should be encouraged and applauded.
I was very lucky to find here when I didn't have too much debt and Martins calculator about paying just minimum payments on CC gave me a kick up the @rse!
I post on here more than anywhere even though no longer have any debts because its the most supportive and encouraging place to be. So when people question you come here :jLooking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

oh my goodness thats a horrid thing to say!
you're right,i think she is just naive (sp) about it all. she's always lived at home with no bills, rent, groceries her whole life. Think i'm just being overly sensitive just now as well as i feel like i'm running around in circles.
ETA - i rarely leave DFW the other boards are scary! :rotfl:0 -
im a DFW-er through and through.. Ive read some posts on other boards but this is where I consider "home"....Wealth is not measured by currency0

Wait until she leaves home and gets he own place Purps....
even though she might not have any debts now, the probability (unfortunately) is that most people will fall into debt/credit somewhere along the lines, and even with the best intentions to manager it as good debts, Id say probably 75% of the time that doesnt happen.... so it'll soon be her in the situation, by which time you'll be DF and she'll be asking you for adviceWealth is not measured by currency0 -
i know, i think she'll be in for a shock.
so i've looked all over and no1 has any new money making ideas. ho hum. back to ebay i go.0
