I have 2, one for DS 8yo who has special needs and one for DS 5yo. I love them, they change as the child grows, so there is no sitting on cushions at the table etc. As others have said, there is always a good resale on them so you should be able to get a good chunk of your money back if you buy new. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

My neighbours have got them. They have 2 and just have them sat at the dining table instead of chairs. They look very classy and work well with the rest of their wood furniture.
If I had my house (with dining space which I STILL haven't got!!!) when the kids were smaller then I would consider them.

I have this one and i can't recommend it highly enough, my DD is nearly 5 and still uses it every day, we've taken the tray off it and just pull it up to the table so she is the right height and feels part of things, also useful for any activities you want to do at the table.

We are expecting again and it wouldn't surprise me if we end up buying another one of these, I don't expect DD to want to part with hers.
