  • Thanks a lot for this! We went today, using the vouchers from the new link.

We were two families: 4 adults, 4 children aged 15, 13, 8 and 4. We went directly at the entrance without going through the ticket office. The lady saw the vouchers, took them and opened the gate. She barely looked at them and didn't say anything about the children.

We really had a great day!!! I think we'll go back in September as my daughter has a penfriend from Germany at home for a week.

Took my mom on Saturday and used black and white printed vouchers - went straight to the turnstiles and they just let us straight through.

Was a really good day out, have still got some vouchers left (I did notice that the old link stopped working, but have saved the voucher from the new link onto my hard drive so can pass it around - new voucher layout is different), will go again with my husband, brother-in-law and his girlfiend in a couple of weeks).

I would recommend that you take a packed lunch as the food there is quite expensive, we were warned beforehand so popped into tesco on the way.

Used black and white printouts Saturday and no problem at all.
A fantastic day out, can thoroughly recommend!!
2 adults and our son who is 10 went, phoned beforehand and was told that the vouchers can be used for any age.
There was not enough time to take everything in so we will definitely be going back before the end of September.

    Thanks for a brilliant post!!

We went yesterday and had a brillant day-Thanks OP. 3 adults and 2 children. We went to turnstiles and handed over the 5 printouts to get in.

£3 to park in castle car park (purchase token at machine, at castle exit).

Shows were great-jousting on horses, knights fighting it out with swords and weapons, a forge, eagle display, Bowman display.

At 4.30pm there was a duo of plague victims singing on the Green (great fun we all had to join in a couple of songs), then the call to arms came and we all had to march along in a line with flags to the Trebuchet (huge catapult)-soldiers lay on the ground shot by arrows.

It opens 10am and I would go early as there is a full day of activities to see and do. We arrived at 11am and although a Monday we were in the overflow car park in the grounds with a 20 min walk to the Castle. We were kept so busy the children id not have time to play in the adventure playground.

All staff were in character-the grave diggers walked around wishing you a nice day then wished you dead at the end of it!

There are displays in the castle- one is the old hall, full of armour, knights on horses and so on. Another section is a victorian weekend party with wax work figures and rooms done in the period.

The King maker part of the castle again features waxworks, battle preparations etc.

There is a hole in the ground that leads to a medeval dungeon with torture bits on display. A walk around the top of the castle gives a fab view. The grounds are lovely with a peacock garden, river running at bottom, rose garden-great for picnics.

It is about £2.50 to go into the Ghost tower, for a terrifying 8 minute walk, but it is really only suitable for adults I feel, although they say over 8's. This runs every half hour and they split the groups into about 10 people who go in every 10 mins with a ghost like guide.

Food and drink was expensive so I would take your own with you. Extra charged items were £5 to dress up like a knight and learn battle skills, Archery, photo with Queen elizabeth and photo in Ghost Tower. Take a camera as lots of photo opportunities with the princess of the castle, knights, plague victims, Henry VIII model etc.

Look at the link on page 3, message number 53 for a new link. It opens quite slowly, so be patient. I've saved it on to my hard drive so that I can print off for other people as well as myself!
  • thanks found it just printing now, so you have to pay for children now?
