Barclaycard 6.9% offer

I had read on the main site that Barclaycard do a 6.9% life of balance transfer with no fee so I called them today. The customer service rep told me that they no longer do this offer.
I then advised that as I have no balance on the card I would like to close the account.
I was transfered to a loyalty representative (I assume that is their fancy name for the CHURN department). I told him I had heard of this offer and wanted to take it up but had just been informed it was no longer available.
He put me on hold for a few minutes then came back and told me it was no longer a system generated offer but on speaking to his manager they could manually add this to my account and do the transfer I wanted.
He then credited me £10 because I had had to wait for a few minutes on the phone.
All in all a great result and I must say a very pleasant experience with only minimal resistance at the first hurdle!
If anyone is thinking of this offer it would appear that the threat of cancelling the card is good enough to get it. Might even be worth asking for a lower rate, I had shot my bolt on this however by asking for the 6.9% in the first place.

Dunno whats going on here but I have just done a BT with no fee charges and at 6.9% LOB to my barclaycard. I used the online BT option and it has appeared on my card as of 15th July with no charges. What's more the option is still there in writing on the Barclaycard site although I do concede that BC have the right to refuse any BT request at any time.0

With your post in mind and the thought that this long standing offer from BC is going to end I have just a few minutes ago used the online system to do another 6.9% LOB fee free transfer to my card and it didn't say anything untoward like please ring a rep etc, just took the request as it has always done.0

I don't manage my Barclaycard on line, so haven't seen this option.
As I said the CSR I spoke to told me the offer has ended and the Loyalty rep told me it was no longer a system generated offer, I had no reason not to believe them but from your comments it would appear that either online users get a better deal without having to ask, the CSR was wrong/lying or they were trying to pull the wool.
Still I was/am happy with the result.A+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664

you don't have to manage your account online to be able to do the transfer....

I just spoke to them (Indian call centre) and was told i have no offers so they cant do a balance transfer. Here it says that existing customers do it for online for 6.9% lob.

Unfortunately, Barclaycard has figured quite prominently on the Best Balance Transfers thread this year and rarely for the right reasons. Still, it's nice to hear from satisfied customers, as you say.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

This is what happened to me initially, indian call centre and told that the offer was no longer available, I hadn't checked barclaycards website though as I had read that this was something they don't advertise usually (obviously they do!)
Seems the call centre don't have the full facts of whats on the website (unless you got the same person I did!) but they are at least doing the offer, would appear that if you do it online its a bit less hassle!:TA+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664

Whan I spoke to a csr in one of their Foreign call centres I was advised that I could transfer up to £4,900 at 6.9 percent. However if I wanted to take advantage of my full entitlement they would need to send me a letter with a code on. Also they advise it was not possible to transfer online.
This information was totally incorrect.0 -
Hi Mstopham,
The BT we are referring to, LOB 6.9% is an option on the barclaycard front page and one fills in a quick questionairre and Robert's yer Fathers' brother. No requirement to manage your account on line but as soon as the BT request hits the system a 1£ pending transaction appears on your account. If you bank online it dissapears in a few days but if you dont bank online ie your not registered, the 1£ becomes part of the BT. Don't ask me why this happens, its one of the Barclaycard well kept secrets LOL.0
