I've won a holiday on a scratch card

There does seem to be alot of opinion rather than fact on this thread. So if anyone would like to know the facts you should hear them from the people who really do know. I'm the MD of Whoopydoo so I do know the facts.
We supply holiday based rewards to a number of companies who scratch cards, competitions, in store promotions, on-line promotions and data surveys.
All of the holidays are booked through our dedicated travel agents who are abta and atol bonded. We do not use any timeshare accommodation and you will never be asked to attend any presentations on our holidays. We never pass on any of your personal data.
The holidays are all totally genuine and we try very hard to offer people their preferred dates and destinations with a departure airport that isn't too onerous to reach. As a result we send loads of people away and many of them are kind enough to complete post holiday surveys and provide us with the testimonials that you can all read on our web site.
If you don't want to take up the holiday reward then that's fine with us as everyone who takes up the holiday costs us a lot of money!
You may not understnad how we can do this but perhaps that is why we are the leaders in our field.
Hopefully you will appreciate me making this post as this is a good forum and should help people by providing facts rather than uninformed opinion.0 -

If you know the facts can you actually tell us how much a free Holiday will cost through your company then?
Surely if you "win" something in any competition you should not have to pay to receive the item.

I guess that depends on what you win. As I have previously posted I won a free week in an apt, but of course I had to pay for the flight.0 -
Moneysaver,
Firstly I should point out that under the recent legislation changes it is now not possible to describe a reward as 'free' because invariably the recipient will have had to incur some cost in order to receive it, such as buying a product.
Secondly, the amount someone pays in order to take up their holiday reward depends on the reward and we run several different vouchers, some with flights included and some without. But to give you an idea, here are a couple of recent examples.
7 Day, 4 Star All Inc holiday to Tunisia inclusives of taxes. Travellers who have been taking this up recently have been paying £40 in airline fuel surcharge and £30 for transfers, Total £70.
7 Day Greek Island Cruise for 2 travellers have had to pay a cruise line fuel surcharge of £35pp. They are responsible for their own flights and transfers.
These holidays may not be free but their cost is very low and would be even lower if it were not for the cruise and air lines still charging fuel surcharges even though the oil price has collapsed!
Any other questions?0 -

Please enlighten us.
What's in it for you

I would stay away from these scratch card companys they are linked to timeshare or buying property abroad. You will more than likely find yourself bussed out to a remote restaurant or pub on your arrvial and sold an offer that you cant refuse. There is no way that these companys just give you the holiday for this cost with no benefit to them. You dont have to take the timeshare with them but I would imagine this to be a holiday from hell
Stay clear!!!I am a Travel Agent
My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.0 -

You forgot to add in the cost of the 09 telephone number. So if the "winner" calls this number but decides not to go on this "free" holiday it is still going to cost them money to receive nothing.
Why not just have a freephone No or a standard telephone No?
Oh I forgot this is where you make a lot of your income from.

Delwynholidaydeals,
I can assure you that you are entirely incorrect with regard to the holiday rewards we operate. Please bear in mind that statements made on boards such as these that are in the public domain and so laws of defamation, etc. apply.
Moneysaver,
We don't receive any PRS income, our clients do. I can't comment on the money they receive as we are not familiar with their business model. They also have to offer an entirely free route of entry and they do. So you can get one of their game cards for free. I think the details of how to do so are on the card.
Blindman,
Our clients who run the scratch cards pay us an amount of money for the vouchers and we take a very calculated risk on the number of people who will take up the holiday when offered and travel. We have been doing this for many years now and so have the statistics and knowledge to operate these rewards. Without this knowledge it is very hard for the man in the street to understand how we run these rewards.
Clearly I'm not about to explain in graphic detail how they work as this is our intellectual property.
If anyone who has been on one of our reward holidays is reading this thread, perhaps they would like to contribute?0 -
I am not saying anything about the holiday's that are "won" on the scratchcard. What I am saying it is not free & should be made clearer on the "winning" card that it is going to cost you many pounds whether you accept the offer or not.
Perhaps if it was made clearer on the card & not the smallest font available hidden at the bottom of the card, you would not get so many people calling & being charged for something they may not get.

why are you picking on the negative and not commenting on mu posts.moneysaver wrote: »I am not saying anything about the holiday's that are "won" on the scratchcard. I have won a scratch card holiday. I did not have to ring a premium rate fone number, I just had to book the flight with them. I did not have to attend any timeshare and neither was I bussed anywhere, in fact I was not bothered once while on holiday.0
