Even on a restricted diet, if you spend most of your time UNABLE to walk, you will gain weight.

    So please, watch your judgment.

That's not necessarily true. For the last couple of years of her life, my mother-in-law was utterly unable to walk (multiple sclerosis). She didn't gain weight.

You can still exercise like you were and as long as you eat healthy then it's fine. I did all through my three pregnancies and this helped get my shape back soon after they were born.
  • It's not how much you eat but rather the quality that's essential through pregnancy, and by the 3rd tri you'e only meant to have an extra 200 cals a day (2,200 a day)

I was reading in oneof my 1950's medical books and it was advised that pregnant women put no more than a stone on lol. Changed days...

If you've got a couple of stone to lose and you eat the recommended calories for an adult (2000) then chances are you will keep losing fat. Well done for losing weight btw and congrats! xx

I went to Slimming World, there was a girl there who lost 1 stone whilst pregnant. (Once she gave birth she was a stone lighter than when she joined!)
She was allowed more 'syns' than if she were not pregnant.
So, it can be done, but I would do it under supervision so you get the best advice for your little bump.
    Oh and congratulations!

If you were a member of Slimming World and pregnant, you would have to take a consent form to your midwife.

It's not syns you are allowed more of (or shouldn't be) it's healthy extras...ie more calcium and fibre foods and then only when breastfeeding.

Healthy eating with as big a variety of foods as possible is all that's required.

I wish you a happy pregnancy and a healthy baby :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I put on five stone while pregnant! but in my defence I had SPD, was depressed, had lost my job and had recently given up smoking. I am losing it gradually now, through a calorie controlled diet and plenty of exercise but as i'm still breastfeeding I can't partake in anything too extreme.
OP, your healthy eating plan sounds very sensible. Best of luck with your weight loss, and of course the baby
:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T
  • Hi

Im currently pregnant and have been dieting on and off for years. Firstly you can get weighed until your 12 weeks pregnant as you really dont put on any baby weight until the last three months.

You can follow the weight watchers core plan or slimming world plan throught your pregnancy as they dont restrict food quantities and focus on healthy eating.

I wish I had kept getting weighed until 12 weeks as I went a little wild with my eating.

Its safe to lose weight during pregnancy if your overweight and also you shouldnt put on as much weight.
