Its different with you having a DD, I know DS's school insisted on a logo'd football shirt, which is fair enough as they do play other schools in them. Quite what they wanted for girls I dont know as DD doesnt start there for another 12 months.

Probably the girls play netball and hockey against other schools!

I think it sucks but my Tadpole's school insist of their logoed uniforms too  Only available from one shop, charge whatever they want, no second hand uniform sale ever and if you don't like it , that's fine, go to another school

That sounds just like the school my youngest has just left. Everything from the one shop at inflated prices and no second hand supplies cos the school could not be bothered to make room for stock. I now have lots of items which I paid dearly for and can find no buyers for because the other parents will not have second hand for their precious darlings, despite some items being unworn and just as new. I have tried advertising everywhere, car boot sales etc. I cant understand because i would have walked to the other side of the city to pick up bargains like this.

When I was in school (wayyyyyy back when ) we had a school specific PE top which had to be worn with a red skirt, although there were several suppliers in town where you could get it from - I thought all schools had an identifiable PE top mainly because of playing team sports against other schools, or athletics, cross country etc... All the comps in town did and still do.

However, how on earth they can insist on, or even Police, the rule that you must have two kits I don't know - that definitiely sounds like a "shop rule" What are you supposed to do, embroider them with a 1 and 2 so that the school can check they're both being worn? It's like the school telling you how many trousers or polo shirts you should buy.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

franny, did you say you had a list from the school? If so, then I can't see that they can insist as they have changed their rules after giving out the lists. You also have evidence that you did ask, and were ignored!

I absolutely hate this snobbery going on with schools, often having changed status to 'academy'. State school uniform is meant to be a 'leveler' not 'divider' - ie not who can and can't afford the uniform! And this is under a Labour government:eek:. Sometimes, I think it would be cheaper to send them in their own clothes, at least you can buy them from Primark or wherever!

My daughters school uniform is a big rip off, polo shirt no long but school name & her name on it £9.50 for one & they are different from normal polo shirts not buttons on just v neck with collar so cant even get away with sending her with a plain one. They say its school policy as by having a totally different style polo shirt for PE they can spot those girls who have not changed correctly after PE ??!! On top of that they have a tracksuit again with school name acroos the back that costs £34 And to top it off I cant get her trousers anywhere but Clive marks as thay are bottle green, thankfully only one more year in green then she goes into black so I will be getting her trousers from primark then

I have two lists, one given to the kids, which mentions just "red polo shirt" and one given to parents at open evening (one month later) saying "red shirt with white piping and logo" So I know which one I am following ;):D

Interestingly this school is now an "academy"

And I am sure the school gets a nice "kick back" from the single suppier too

this sort of thing isnt new... when i was a nipper -(over 30 years ago) and moving onto senior school, the school i was going too, you coul donly get the uniform from one shop...... that included Blazers, jumpers, ties, rugby/football shirts...... my dd's are now at the same school, each year is a different colour, polos/sweatshirts with logos, nothing else has to be branded, although i believe the newbies (ie yr 7 in sept) will have to have logo'd t shirts for pe.....
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I am on a crusade with school uniform with my sons sec school. I have had the heads verbal blessing to reproduce the school logo and I sell directly to any parent that contact me. I do all the school logo items with saving up to £7.00 compared to the schools authorised supplier.

There is a big discussion about the unfair taxing schools impose on parents by the kickbacks/commission/profit they make/receive on the sale of the logo uniform, on parentscentre.

On of the parent have had an article printed in the Mail on Sunday today as well.
