Renting - "no children" discrimination

I'd rather rent my BTL to a family with kids appreciative of a decent house and garden, than a whinging smug STR.
The house is cared for, long term tenant and the rent is paid.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The economic situation will only place more properties in the hands of landlords, and more ex-property owners will become tenants.
Now, I don't rememebr the ins and outs of this but isn't there some move towards council being able to force property sitting empty to be made availabe for housing?Heard whispers about this some time ago, may 2005/6, certainly before left the UK.

Councils are able to compulsory purchase houses left vacant for periods of time and sell them on at auction, to people who will bring them back into occupation. In my area this has already been done several times and very many more are earmarked.0 -
There should be a law in this country about where people with children can live. Every city or town should have it's own area specifically for people with kids under 18 and they shouldn't be allowed to live outside of that area until the kids have reached 18 or moved out.
I would then be able to live in a kid-free area for life and enjoy some peace and quiet instead of having to "suffer" the screaming & wailing/balls in garden pond/music at 150dB.
Bring it on.

Because 18 is that magic age where we all grow up and stop being annoying, and right up until midnight on the day before our birthday we all are inconsiderate little idiots. Nice.
Some parents CAN bring up their kids properly you know. Unfortunately it seems that those who can't have messed it up for the rest. Life isn't fair, what's new??0 -

YES! Children suck on a big scale, why the hell would anyone want children except for either self gratification, a talking point (even though no-one cares) or someone to keep them company when they're bored.553780080 -
:rotfl: You can tell there's a load of crabby old codgers posting on this thread. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up !
But why should I give up when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
I'm a 28 year old crabby old codger who is not looking forward to the girl in the rented flat above mine giving birth in a matter of weeks.
The flats are build by Barratts hence rubbish soundproofing and they have laminate rather than carpet up there!
Roll on the sleepless nights and the banging of the pram up and down to the third floor...:T0
