How do Jet2 get away with their website?

  • You will find that Jet2's starting fares do include the fuel surcharge now, hence why their lowest fare is now £13.99 rather than £9.99 as it used to be, so there are no hidden charges.
  • I booked flights for Dusseldorf last Thursday (flying December) and there was a £10 per person fuel supplement added. So if it is now included in the base fare it has only recently happened.

  • Jet2 really are taking the p***! Yes, they've revamped their website a little and it's a little better - but in all the areas where they look like they're trying to trick you, it's just the same - and, in the case of travel insurance, WORSE!!

Now you only have to find the little red hyperlinked 'remove' button, but once you get the radio buttons with 'add' and 'remove', when you've chosen one it's not enough just to click 'next' and move onto the next page. You have to click the little red hyperlinked 'update' for your change to take effect.

And yes, sadly, the fuel supplements are still added on at the end.

These people know exactly what they're doing - they're trying to mislead and trick people into paying for things they don't need or want. Gah!!

Went with them twice last year though, and they were very good.

don't fly with Jet2 anymore. their website is far too difficult compared to easyjet, and comparitively speaking they are also more expensive to the destinations I want to fly to.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?
  • Jet 2 is not alone in this. You have to understand the business model of Low Cost Carriers. They operate on the thinnest of margins and are very exposed to price rises linked to oil (Jet A1 aviation fuel). Some LCC's operating costs have gone up by about £50m this year, just due to that fact.

It is because we all love cheaper flights that it forces the LCC's to recover some money in these sneaky ways, like confusing website options, credit card booking charges, baggage check in fees, and reduced allowances. But it's the game we play.

This pretty much sums it up:

Has anyone tried to get a "free" flight using this scheme?
I have tried to book a flight in October-plenty of seats available to reserve online- but cannot get my Free flight. I refuse to phone jet2 and pay 50p a minute, and an email to their parent company Dart Line Containers elicited no response.
Can anyone tell me how to access the loyalty flights during the booking process, or alternatively , be able to contact them by email- an impossibility from what I've seen?

    From the Jet2 website:
Q: How do I make a flight booking?
A: You can make a booking using your points either on-line via the myJet2 section of the Jet2.com website (see http://www.jet2.com/myjet2.aspx) or via our Customer Service Team on 08444 931 880 if calling from the UK, or +44 1133 958228 if calling from overseas.
Our opening hours are Monday – Thursday 08.30-17.30 and Friday 08.30-15.00 (UK time).
There will be a small charge per person per sector for all redemption bookings made via the Customer Service Team, on which you will also earn points.

If you are having trouble I suggest you phone them as instructed. I dont think 0844 numbers cost anything like 50p per minute? If you still don't want to use it try the overseas number as that is a standard Yorkshire landline.
and an email to their parent company Dart Line Containers elicited no response.

Made me smile. Would you email Tesco Home Broadband about a problem you had with a Tesco credit card :rotfl:
  • Yes we have, we booked 4 seats for our flight to Murcia in June and one of them was a freebie. I think the availability of the free flights depends on where you want to go. The more expensive the free flight, the less availability they have.
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!
  • I think Jet2 have shot themselves in the foot now anyway. In previous years we have always flown with them visiting friends and family in Amsterdam and Dusseldorf.
This year our flights to Amsterdam were £40 each cheaper with KLM,and flying with germanwings cost us £40 each less to Germany too.
